They sure don't like the Southland over on the D2 board 😂 I saw one person call it the worst D1 conference. They hate us cause they ain't us. Could not have said it better.

Tarleton has created a task force to analyze a possible move to D1. I think the Southland is the only realistic conference they could join and I think the conference is reluctant to take on another D2 school so soon. What do y’all think?

I think some of the more powerful schools in our conference believe we newcomers have already done enough damage to the SLC brand and are not even ready to think about going through the process again.

There wasn't much positive response on AGS.

I have been really impressed with what I am seeing out of Colby Carthel's Lions who are about to win their first ever DII championship. Don's son has really put together an amazing program in 5 years. They beat Harding to get to Kansas City. My favorite memory of playing Texas A&M Commerce was beating them in OT at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

UT Tyler has applied for D2 status. Don't know yet which conference they'd join but the LSC would be a good bet. link

Yes. UT Tyler is really growing. Say they have no plans to add football but I find that hard to believe.

UT-Tyler is a very ambitious smaller sibling in the UT system. They get terrific support from the Tyler community. I think it is 99% certain that they will join the LSC. The big drawback, of course, is that is a non-football playing school. The Heartland Conference that are being absorbed into the LSC in 2019 are all non-football playing schools. I agree with EastTexasWildcat that UT-T will certainly look to add football in the near future and the LSC football-playing schools will be supporting that addition. There is real fear over on the LSC board that a preponderance of non-football playing schools will begin to turn the conference as a whole away from football.

They were growing pretty aggressively even when I was in that area. I wonder with TJC, KC and good HS football programs around there how long it would take them to build a decent football team.
