Interesting, don't know if he would be interested. He hasn't been at UNT but a year. It would be a fast jump for him, does today's market really call for that? I am glad we ended up with a mature and experienced coach. Graham will be there in time. Is he ready to take on a HC gig at a troubled FBS program in a difficult recruiting area yet. I don't personally know the answer. Seems like Keeler would be a more likely candidate, but it is nice to see Graham getting the respect.

I wonder what Ken Collums is waiting for?

Today’s market probably does not call for an inexperienced hire. UTEP on the other hand..... UTEP. Does not pay well. The Miners are in Texas but far, far removed from recruiting hotbeds. They Don’t have a winning tradition. Harrell is viewed as a rising star in the coaching ranks. UTEP might take a chance on him now while they still can. Personally, I don’t think it would be a good move for Harrell. In a couple of years Harrell will likely be in line for better gigs, especially if NTSU gets things turned around. 4 Guys with a little more experience off NTSu’s staff were hired at P5 schools last year. I can see Harrell getting a similar opportunity in the near future or a HC position at a better G5 school in Texas or an adjacent state.

I wonder what Ken Collums is waiting for? I dunno. I have wondered the same thing. Not sure why you asked on this thread, but I hope KC isn’t planning on applying for that job. I doubt he would get his foot in the door with a losing record at a FCS school.

I really doubt Keeler would take the job but I could see Carthel taking it if offered. The only thing is Carthel would have to jump from D2 to FBS without any prior experience, that would be really tough.

The UTEP job is a tough one! Kugler appeared to be the perfect fit - an alum who loves El Paso and who took the team to a bowl in just his 2nd year. However, it has been downhill every year since. I know that UTEP has a rep for paying poorly, but I looked it up and Kugler was being paid $510,000 a year - near the bottom in the CUSA, but still close to the median in a mid-major FBS program.
While Graham Harrell has a certain cachet, I simply don't see him fitting in at UTEP. Looking at the names on the list in the article, I might think that Ty Detmer or Guy Holliday might fit the best. I could see Ken Collums having a shot as the offensive coordinator at someplace like UTEP - that is really his forte. I think that KC is probably waiting until something pops open for an OC post at an FCS or a lower-tier FBS school (which actually fits the UTEP description).

If Keeler took it, would most undoubtedly be from the professional challenge aspect. He has a good set up at SHSU. I think UTEP has potential. There are worse places than El Paso to be, but the pay and recruiting difficulties do hurt. ***$510,000 isn't that bad, especially in El Paso. Other urban areas in Texas would be much more expensive demographics.***

I agree that a job as either an OC or QB Coach is really KC’a forte. Or he might opt for a men’s ministry position, which seems to be his passion.

Graham Harrell’s name continues to come up, most recently in connection with the Texas State search and as a likely replacement at NTSU if Seth Littrel is hired for a P5 job. Littrell is a hot commodity after turning around NTSU’s wretched program. His name has been mentioned as part of the searches at both Texas Tech and North Carolina, two of his previous stops.

Littrel or Harrell are being mentioned for the TT, North Carolina jobs? Littrell has been mentioned for P5 jobs. Harrell is mentioned as Littrell’s heir apparent at NTSU or for other mid major positions like Texas State. North Carolina just hired Mack Brown though so that’s out.

How old is Mack? Maybe watching games from the press box is good experience. Surely NC could have done better (although I like Mack, I think he's a little long in the tooth).

Only 2 years older than Les Miles surprisingly. I think if he can get a good staff in (maybe bring in Kingsbury as OC) he can be successful.
