What ACU needs to do is look a lot closer to these local kids from smaller schools who have turned a program around. Now are contenders in their division. They are doing it on the ground and in the air. Such as Red Oak, Midlothian just to name a couple of programs. I have watched these teams in action and they have runningbacks and defensive backs. Anybody in particular that you like? Looks like one of the DBs at Red Oak is committed to Tulane already (Kevaris Hall 6'1.5 183).

What about that powerful runningback who is averaging over 100 yards a game looks unstoppable in Red Oak. They also have a punt returner in Red Oak and both is graduating in 2020 I think. Midlothian also has good db's.

So are you an ACU fan or a dad in Red Oak? Are they being recruited by other schools as well?

I am a ACU fan, only have a daughter who is way to young for sports. I just get tired of us recruiting outside of the state when we have kids better who can play ball here in texas that could be given to a talented kid locally and give him a shot to make u ACU great. Besides other states recruit inside state lines before going outside to get players. Our Colleges should do the same for the most part

At least 25 to 30 of our kids on the team is from other states. Dont get me wrong as an Alumn I am glad they are contributing and helping ACU win games but it sure would be nice to see more area kids staying in Texas to play instead of having to leave out the state.

We have offered way more kids from Texas than anywhere else (66-39). That being said, the goal is not to just recruit Texas kids; the goal is to recruit the best talent. If that is from Texas, great; Arizona great; Alaska, great!
Also, and I am sure you know this, it is a 2-way street. That player also has to be interested in us. He HAS to make the grades. There are plenty of talented kids all over the nation, but they would not fit into what ACU is about.
If you want a specific player to get a look from the coaching staff, contact them. At the very least, they will read your email, I can promise you that

I have no interest in recruiting anyone in particular. I was just weighing in on the topic. As an alumn I just want to make sure we are doing what's best for the kids and school.

Only person I would like us to get is Dontae manning. This kid is a great cornerback I think would be a excellent choice for ACU.

That cornerback from Midlothian, Avery Gibson seems he would be a good fit. He has the grades and is unstoppable on the field. I may should say he stops receivers in their foot steps on the field. He is a great all around kid and ACU really needs to recruit him in my opinion would make a good asset to the defense.

Recruiting battles in the SLC-
WR Rashod Owens- UTSA appears to be the favorite right now; also offered by ACU, HBU and UIW
OL Austin Markiewicz- offered by ACU, UCA, HBU, McNeese, NWST, and SFA; non- SLC schools, N. Colorado, Liberty, Texas St and Tulsa
OL Dylan Howerton- ACU and HBU; brother plays at SMU, and they are in consideration too
OL Monte Williams- ACU, UCA, HBU, Lamar, McNeese, NWST; non-SLC schools, Alcorn St and PVAM
DE Quinton Owens- ACU, HBU, Lamar, McNeese, NWST; Texas Southern; he is a 3-star recruit and I am honestly surprised his recruitment around the state isn't bigger
DE Ky Thomas- ACU, HBU, UIW, Lamar, McNeese, NWST; Fordham and UTEP
DT Ayden Howard- ACU, HBU, UIW, NWST; non-SLC schools, Colorado, Louisiana, Villanova, FIU, Charlotte, Missouri St. I do not look for him to land with a SLC school
DT Caleb Fox- ACU, HBU, Lamar, NWST; Charlotte, Nevada, N. Mexico St, UTEP, N. Iowa
CB Christopher Satterfield- ACU, HBU; Air Force and Charlotte
CB Edric Whitley- ACU, UIW, Sam Houston St; Texas Southern
S Elliott Davison- ACU, UCA, UIW, Sam Houston St, SFA; Missouri St

Having watched how we recruit for over 50 years (the last 20 pretty carefully) I can say I'm pretty satisfied with what we are doing now. As has been pointed out on this board, we have under recruited some areas for a while (Abilene) but that has been corrected. We are now branching out into other areas (Arizona and mid-west) that we've really not ever recruited before. Our reach into the JUCO ranks has gotten better with this staff. Sure, we'd like to get more Texas stars but right now we're doing fairly well with under the radar players who can be developed. I'm thinking we are getting better and better players each year and if...if we were to consistently get to the playoffs with some conference titles, we'll start getting a 3-star or 4-star every once in a while. I think our trajectory in recruiting is good and will get better. Remember we have a very young staff with fewer Texas ties than maybe ever in our history. The number of players we are bringing in on "junior days" and to different ballgames seems to have increased dramatically. Also, the number of HS teams that play on campus in the playoffs is a good thing.
