Thanks Mavsman, I wish I could get to at least one of these. It would be nice to see them play.

I've heard lots of positive comments from high school coaches about playing at ACU's new stadium. I'm hoping that will translate into recruits as more playoff games use Wildcat stadium.

I actually watched some peewee playoff games there last Sunday. There were a lot of people from out of town that would probably never have been in the stadium otherwise. Dorrel was there talking to people. Can you imagine a recruit saying I have wanted to come play in this stadium again ever since I first did when I was 7 years old?

Not sure why the last post is here. Have we offered or are we interested in any players on these 2 teams?

Just for nostalgia I went back and reread our posts pre2016 recruiting class. Some players we were excited about joining the team were: Donnell Dunn, Deshaun Qualls, Emoree Giddens, Anniete Etuk, Yakob Yandell, Connor Martin, Chase Cokley, Greg Craddock, etc. Of course others stuck like Luke Anthony, Josh Fink, Jeremiah Chambers, Slayde Anderson, TK, Adonis Davis, Landry Hutchins, Cole Burgess, etc. I loved some of the comments that were right on like 86 saying Cole Burgess might start as a DE but he bet after a little weight he'd move inside and be a starter. We loved the recruiting film on Anthony but also noticed a KState commit named Isaiah Harris (remember him). We thought we might have another QB by the name of Hank Hughes who ended up walking on at A&M never to be heard from again (I guess). Jake Franklin was also part of that class (transfered to MHB and won a national championship as their QB). Colton Cohea came and then transferred to Corpus to run track. Connor Martin walked on at Baylor and punted for them. Qualls had a couple of good years for us then ran afoul of Coach Dorrel and transferred to Tarleton. Cokley disappeared after 3 years here. Yandell retired after a year. Giddens, Etuk, Craddock all left. What happened to Dunn? Just goes to show how hit and miss recruiting is. I'm ready for the next group. When is the early signing date?

Having a burger at Rock n Rollers when a group from Birdville walked in after a playoff game at Anthony. They said that Stone Earle went crazy in a big playoff win passing for 400+ yards and running for a bunch.
BTW if any of you haven’t found this burger joint on your trips to A-town I highly recommend it.

The early signing period is Dec. 19-21. The Coaching staff has a lot of work to do, between now and then and then until February.
By my count, we have 21 open spots, though I expect that number to go up and some announcements in the next few weeks that some players are leaving the program. Not all of these 21 spots are full scholarships, but the majority are.
Needs- QB- Stone Earle has committed. It would not surprise me if we take 1 more. Dallas Christian QB Zack Haaland has visited and really loved it here. I actually think they are recruiting him as a CB, which he also plays. The other name is Will King from Hugo. He is more Sema'j than Luke, but he is a very good athlete.
RB- With James graduating, we will take at least 1 back, maybe 2. McCrary will be back as will Ty. White. Jessie Anderson should be in the mix more next year as well. The staff is looking all over (HS, JUCO and FBS drop down) for another back. This staff really like Jeremiah Dobbins and I think he really likes ACU as well. They have started sniffing around another HS RB, but no offer to him yet
WR- Fink graduates and there is a strong possibility one of the young WR's is leaving (I won't share any names yet). We are in decent shape here. K. Clark, Jav. Miller, Lee, McConnell, Harmon and Lutz. Biggest concern is these guys health. Look for at least 2 WRs to be added
TE/FB- Pierce graduates. Not sure what happened with Daytrieon Dean. Is he still on the team, gone; I don't know. Hohenstein, Bergdoll and Tumbleson leave us in good shape. Also have C. Anthony, Sonnier and L. Smith. Staff is looking at a lot of FBS drop downs at the moment.
OL- 3 commits already; Ty Smith, Dylan Howerton and Hayden Burke. We graduate Backman and Acres, but return everyone else. It still would not surprise me if we look at an FBS drop down before the 2020 season starts
DE- Damion Hart has already committed. That being said, lots of work needed here. K. Hill, Odabeyi and Previllon return. Hoping we get something out of Br. Miller, but so far, that has yet to happen. We have an offer out to JUCO DE Bl. Hoover and I expect the staff to look at a lot of JUCOs and FBS drop downs. Expect 2-3 more players to be added
DT- Many spots to fill here. Titre, Gayden, L. Jones and Morgan are the only key guys back. We have an offer out to JUCO DT J. Schultz, but thus far have been surprising quiet at this position. Much like DE, we will look all over for help. I expect 3-4 more players to be added.
LB- Graduate Chambers and Cobb. Also, Minor left the team before our first game. Gibbens and Q. Washington should be key cogs next year. J. Parker, Green, Kier, Hargrove and J. Neal return. Offer went out to JUCO LB Abraham Beauplan last week. They have also been looking at drop downs. They would be okay with what they have, but I also think they would like to add 1 more stud to go alongside the other 2. The staff has been after Elijah Wright from Vian, but he seems to be looking at bigger schools (Oklahoma as a Walk-on).
CB- Graduate Davis and Lofton. Stapp and Koy Richardson return. Lots of CBs played special teams, but not much else. We have offers out to JUCO players Shavoke Herrington and Dennis Barnes. Both would be nice gets. Also, staff has done a great job with HS players, though no commits yet. Ridge Texada, Christopher Satterfield and Kaunor Ashley all visited. Brady Brewer and Eric Whitley are in the mix too. Expect 3-4 new players
S- We lose Richmond, Onifade and Hutchins. Ortega and Robinson return. Elijah Moffett has already committed and I think he will be a player down the road. Expect lots of transfers in, JUCO and FBS.
It will be interesting to see if the staff takes this week to re-group or if they hit the recruiting trail. I also think it is likely that they will have some official visits; probably Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 13-14. Fun time of year!

Bogey, some names I had almost forgotten in this group. One small correction - Jake Franklin is the person you list as playing for Mary Hardin Baylor, but it was actually Jase Hammack. Jake walked-on at ACU and redshirted his first year, then transferred to Cisco and played a few games before transferring again to Central Lakes CC in Minnesota where got some playing time for a CC that only plays something like 8 games a year. Jake transferred to the University of St Thomas in Minnesota, where he did not break into the top 3 QB's and is now listed as a WR and apparently did not see the field this year. St Thomas finished 2nd in the MIAC to St John's, who won their first round game in the D-III tourney this past Saturday. St Thomas did not make the playoffs even though they were 8-2 and 7-1 in conference. The MIAC is also the home of Gustavus Aldolphus -- the same team that ACC beat in the Refrigerator Bowl in Evansville, IN in 1950 to cap off the only unbeaten, untied season in ACC/ACU history. Meanwhile, former ACU scout team QB Jase Hammack has done extremely well as the QB at Mary Hardin-Baylor. In 2018, he threw for 2,065 in 15 games as UMHB won the D-3 national championship, as well as averaging 53 points a game on the season. This season, Jase has started 8 games (injured in early season) and thrown for 1,200 yards as UMHB has "fallen off" to just averaging 51 points a game. Jase has done a really nice job.

Yep. thanks for the correction. One player I left off the list (maybe more) was Corey Smith who has had a good career with us. Can't remember if Jon Crisp was a walk on that year and RS or not. Interesting who RS'ed and who did not.

I looked up where some of the players that left are at now. Cokley plays at Ohio University in the MAC. Craddock previously was at UNT for a year and didn't see the field and is now at A&M Commerce and had 2 catches for 24 yards this year. The last I saw of Dunn he was at a JUCO in Oklahoma that I don't remember the name of.

This is a little off topic but does anyone remember CJ Wall who was a cornerback we signed in Dorrel's first class who then left us for Princeton? I looked him up and he's actually had a pretty good career so far there. He was an all-conference honorable mention his freshman year and was twice voted as rookie of the week. Unfortunately he did get injured in 2018 and hasn't played since then as far as I can tell.

Offer to JUCO WR Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda from Saddleback College. On the season, he had 56 catches for 953 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is listed at 6'0 175 and will have 4 years to play 3. Here is his tape: www.hudl.com/v/2C1Ph5
