Saw on Twitter that Cameron Cromer has entered the portal. Anyone know the reason? Didn't get enough playing time? The numbers don't lie and that certainly appears to be the case with Cameron: - In 2020, Cameron started 15 games at shortstop for the "Cats, hitting a rather anemic .183 and that was NOT offset with a stellar fielding average (a .919)
- Cameron is beaten out for the short stop job by Bash Randle this year -- he starts the first game of the year at 2nd base and loses that spot and does a little bit of utility work and be the middle of the season, he is basically gone. He does still start 16 games, all in the first half of the season. He does not play a single game in the SLC tournament. He bats .189 in limited play and his fielding average drops to .906 (albeit not in his preferred spot of shortstop)
- Bash Randle arrives as a true freshman and starts at shortstop from the get-go -- he ends up starting 54 games for the Wildcats, hitting a robust .305 and with a MUCH better fielding average of .947. He is the 1st team SLC shortstop as a freshman.
It certainly looks like Cameron's opportunities at ACU were going to dwindle -- I am guessing that be entered the portal because of that. There is always a chance that his scholarship was being pulled or reduced.

Thanks for the details. I don't follow baseball super closely but am thrilled that Bash is a true freshman! Let's hope we can keep him all four years.

Anyone following our baseball guys this summer? Saw that Colton Eager is playing for a team in Dallas. Any others you know of. Maybe some incoming players too.
