Brett Hammit smoked that pitched out of the park Are we much improved, or is Tarleton very bad? I guess time will tell.

Double header sweep is a great way to start the year.

It's early in the season. Everything at this level depends on a pitcher. That's why every game is an adventure and one can win one day and the other the next. We've got to develop pitchers who can keep us in games. That's one of the reasons I was excited about the McCarty hire (pitching coach) and so discouraged about the 2 freshman pitchers we lost after last year.

It is early and a .667 winning percentage is always good. But baseball is a lot like golf, one day things are working and the next day things are not so well. But you cannot give up double digit runs and hits, we need more depth in pitching unless this was just an off day for some weird reason. But that is what the bullpen is for. And giving up 10 runs with several later in the game is a problem. Pitching is more than half of baseball so as time goes on, we may need to find stronger arms. I was impressed with a Wildcat getting three hits today. That is great anytime.

We can have the best pitching coach in the world and recruit the best pitchers, but if we can't retain these great recruits then we are average at best. I know that everyone knows this but seems like this happens way too much. What's the answer?

Wow. Maybe we should let McCarty coach an actual season before we start banging on him. How consistent are anybody’s pitchers going to be in February? 5 walks and 3 errors sounds like early season woes that can be corrected.

Who in the world is "banging on McCarty"? I certainly wasn't with my comment. I'm excited about what he's going to do. We lost two promising freshman pitchers from last year, was that McCarty's fault? I certainly don't know. I said it is early. Some of you guys read negatives into every post. Lighten up.

No, Bogey, I didn’t think you were banging on McCarty but the thread seemed to be devolving negatively and I’m thinking there is a lot to be excited about this year. We should get better as the year goes on.

Watching game with A&M. Max Huffling is an impressive young pitcher for the Cats. 6'9" 260 FR.

So far we have a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Hope we can keep it up. It's good to see us in the game against A&M.
***Impressed with the pitching so far also, held off a potential score to finish the inning.***
