Did we play everyone on the travel roster? I know there were lots of substitutions on the O Line.

ACU beat Lamar in every phase of the game -- badly. Looks like Lamar is the right team to play twice in one season, although I don't think they can play this badly again. The 'Cats have reached the three wins I had predicted this year -- just hoping to see us pick up a few more. I see that UCA came back to make a game of it losing to SHSU 35-45. That has to be considered a moral victory for the Bears. We will see if they have a letdown after a hard-fought loss to SHSU. Next Saturday will be the last time ACU will see Ken Collums as they will move to the ASUN full-time next year. I'm just glad that the UCA game is a home game and we don't have to ever see that horrendous field in Arkansas again

Did we play everyone on the travel roster? I know there were lots of substitutions on the O Line. Pretty much, I’d say. 15 OL played, I think. I counted at least 11, maybe 12 DL. Noted that the 4th quarter featured backups from both teams.

Frankly, I didn’t see that one coming although I will point out that I had ACU winning by 21. Nice game plan, especially defensively. Superior execution. Zero penalties except free kick OB and Koy’s unsportsmanlike. I stand corrected - zero penalties enforced.

For those that didn’t watch, is Lamar that bad?

That was finally the game I was waiting for. Yes, Lamar is probably not as good as some thought, but still, it was about how we played. ZERO penalties was more than I could have imagined. Yes, we did have the celebration call, but nothing like our previous games. We played lights out defense and our offense was able to move the ball around and keep pounding them. The lines played well and physical. I don't know if our next game against them will go this well, but we needed this badly. This gives us momentum against UCA. Let's hope we play all 3 phases as well and UCA is still a little tired from their SHSU game. GO CATS!!!!

For those that didn’t watch, is Lamar that bad? Lamar has a young team (maybe younger than ours). But they had a terrible stretch from before half time until mid-fourth quarter. The ACU offensive and defensive line were impressive, and the Cardinals had no threats in the passing game. The was the most decisive a win by an ACU football team against a conference opponent that I can remember.

Just got back to Houston from the game. The game was a total one sided affair. I do not think ACU could have played any better. The sun was blistering before the game but as the sun went down the temperature dropped to maybe 70 by games end. There were some injuries is the only negative I can point to.

The only negative of such a big blow out is the chance for a feeling of complacency when Lamar comes to Abilene for the game that actually counts in conference standings. Hopefully we have matured as a team and will realize every game starts at 0-0.

Watched a replay of the game and have a little different perspective now. ACU did indeed out play Lamar in everyway, but, Lamar showed some strengths and skills. It just seemed they were snake bit. Through the first quarter and a half, they seemed worthy opponents. Other than a fumble deep in their territory, they were pretty much our equal except for one thing... Stone Earle makes two great TD passes. It was not until later in the game when so many little things were added up well for the Wildcats that the Cardinals sort of gave up. So I am not quite as confident about the upcoming Abilene game. We will likely have a fight on our hands. For the Cardinals to play another pitiful game and for us to hit so well on all cylinders is a bit unlikely. I would take a 21-7 win for the 'Cats right now.

I sensed an excitement for the game and confidence that rose on every possession. Getting off to a good start for this team seems to be very important. It showed them and us that this team can play at a high level. Our depth is better than ever and will play a huge dividend for us as the season goes on. Our LB's were as active as I can remember. The tip by Brannon was an incredible play by him and resulted in a Stapp INT and TD. Plays like that lift a whole team. The competition keeps getting better, will be a test vs UCA. As to rc's concern about a closer next game vs Lamar; if they don't find a pass game (and neither QB showed they can) then we should roll again vs them in Abilene.

I can see RC’s concerns. How many bowl rematches have we seen where the team defeated in the regular season wins the bowl. That’s why I personally hate rematches. Football is a very psychological game, especially at the collegiate level with 18-22 year olds. When things get out of control, they spiral downward quickly.

To win 56-0 was very impressive. Now, the real test starts. I think most of us thought/hoped we would be 3-1 after our first 4 games. UCA is still a strong opponent and an opponent we've had on the ropes before, but have not been able to give them the knockout blow. UCA is NOT SMU, but they are not the past 3 teams we have played either. ACU has to be ready to play from the word go. We have to put this game behind us. Yes, it feels great! But if we go out there and lay an egg at home against UCA, then the pressure is back on. There is a lot still to work on.
Zepeda missed a 43 yard field goal. Yes it happens, but he is now 3-6 this year. We need to be better there.
We have to keep getting pressure on the QB. Breylin Smith for UCA is very good and his top 2 WR's are studs.
Have to find a 2nd WR. Earle seemed to spread it around more yesterday, but I can't tell you other than Clark, who else is really consistent. UCA will try and take Clark out of the game. The other WRs' have to be ready
Start fast, just us we did last night. We went down and scored and then did it again. All of sudden, their backs were against the wall. We have to be the aggressor.
Again, 3-1 is nice. But now we find out if we are for real, or just another team in the WAC that isn't ready for the big stage
