This is a unit that was small in physical size, but also small in numbers too. Last year's staff went with 3 smaller LB's in Hargrove, Kier and Green. I really thought Brannon would be able to come in and make an impact, but injuries set him back. Watch for Coheley to make a huge jump this year. He looks like a player. Kelley, Moore and Marshall all add youth and talent. Moore will help man the middle, while Kelley and Marshall will play outside. Reese Young was a stud at Stephenville. It will be interesting to see if he gets into the mix.
It is difficult for me to say if we are truly better. I want to believe we are. Again, can Coheley, Moore, Brannon or Nwankwo man the middle? Who plays opposite Hargrove on the outside? The depth to me is key, but it is young depth, which means from time to time, there will be mental breakdowns. I like this group a lot and I'll be following closely with how they do

Is this group clearly better than last year's group? I don't know. Kier was terribly undersized, but he still did a credible job at LB. Green was fast and undersized. I too am a big fan of Coheley and he could be a linch-pin in seeing big improvement from this group. I do think that the upside of this group is better this year, but still there are too many questions to give them a ringing endorsement.
I was glad to see that on Twitter Jack Gibbens still identifies himself as a ACU grad -- it is nice to see him acknowledge ACU in that way.

We clearly aren’t any worse and maybe incrementally better.

We are deeper and have more potential with this group. I am curious as to how Brannon will be this year.

Noticed you left Abe Schwinn off the LB list. Since he is dating my niece I happen to know he is on the team and going thru summer training. Could be a contributor this fall with the new staff.

Bogey, for most positions, I'm not adding everyone. Yes, he could receive playing time, but there are several guys in front of him

This position should be a real dogfight to see who starts. Right now I like Brannon in the middle with Kelley and Hargrove outside. Coheley, Nwankwo, and either Marshall or Adams as key contributors. The development of Schwinn, Moore, Young, Pointer and Taite will be interesting to see if any get in the mix. Maybe Moore can be solid in the middle.
