Wow. As bad as we looked for so much of the game I'm shocked we were able to pull it out. But I'll take it!

Very strange win for the 'Cats. What do they say? A win is a win. That has to be the best thing we can take from tonight's win. We did have a LOT of tackles from our DE's. And, that a terrific final tackle for Anthony Egbo, who has had a strong first 2 games as a starter. The coaching for PVAM was suspect the entire 2nd half. I would say for 75% of the game I thought there was no chance the 'Cats would win.
The next time we play at home, it will be against a mediocre D-2 school where we should be able to play a lot of people. But, in between, we have to go to Mizzou and we have not seen anything to indicate we can stay close to the Tigers. I will see what the spread is -- interestingly, we have been able to beat the spread in many, if not most, of our money games as a FCS school.

We really need to improve our pass protection. McIvor did some really good plays but he did not have much time to execute a normal passing game. I don't understand a lot of our offensive play calling, especially why we run for two to three yards so often on first down. PVAM had an athletic quarterback and a tough bunch of pass rushers, but their play calling was really strange. Glad we won because I thought we were going to lose after more than half the game. The cookies were good.

It was ugly and weird but our offense managed to do what it finally needed in the 4th as our defense kept us in the game. A win is a win though and we are 2-0 for the first time in a while. Next weekend will be really tough on us. I was hoping to see improvement from our OL and I didn't see it. I can just hope they watch enough film to see what needs to be done. We did a little better with penalties, but a couple of key ones killed our momentum. Anyway, it's been a long night. The Cats will need to heal some this week and prepare for Mizzou.

ACU scores from 8 yards out -- both TD's tonight go to TE's, this one to Noah Caldwell. Can't believe the 'Cats are leading this game. You think the PV coaches are re-thinking going for it on 4th down within FG range? That going for it on 4 and 5 was dumb. Their kicker had done well. This ended up being a key turning point in the game. PV gave us life, and we made them pay with a strong fourth quarter.

We are still in the running for an undefeated record at home and a WAC championship. SFA lost to Louisiana Tech 52-17, Southern Utah lost to Utah 73-7, Tarleton St lost to TCU 59-17 and Utah Tech leads Chaldron St 28-7 late in the 3rd. Even Sam Houston St lost to Northern Arizona 10-3.

Right now we sit atop the WAC. I just hope we can help shore up our weak spots as the season progresses.

I’ll definitely take an ugly win any day of the week, and this one certainly qualifies.

It’s hard to have a pretty win when you throw three interceptions in the first half. We will need better play from the QB position to see the improvement we want. He should have had at least 2 interceptions last week had that defense been better. Overall, better than last year, but still much room to improve across the board.

He should have had at least 2 interceptions last week had that defense been better. Overall, better than last year, but still much room to improve across the board. This was my exact thought. He threw into very good coverage a number of times last week as well. He is lucky to only have 3 ints on the season as there were three last week that were ripe for the taking and last night our receiver made a heck of a tackle to knock a 4th away. I am begging to wonder about his pass selection as he seems too confident in his ability to throw into a tiny window. He did throw a good back shoulder fade to the end zone to our 6'5" receiver that should have been caught. To me there are three possible answers for this questionable pass selection: 1. He has a Brett Farve gun Slinger nature, and this is just what he is. You take the good throws with the bad and hope it evens out somewhere to the positive. 2. He has not started since high school and has to adjust to the speed and complexity of college DB's and converge. In HS his arm could hit he window before it closed but the defense is just too fast now and he will have to learn which window are worth the risk at this level. One of his picks was to a LB and I wonder if he even realized he has dropped into that coverage. When they showed that throw from the end zone camera is looked like there was no possible way he was going to be able to get that ball to the WR. 3. The OL has just not been good so his ability to read coverage and windows has been compromised by him running for his life half the game. We shall see as the season progresses.

A few things from last night-
1. Egbo. Guy could barely get any playing time, we add a bunch of FBS transfers and he starts and does really, really well. Blocked FG by him was huge! Then, he tackles their QB inbounds with 10 seconds to play
2. Dobbins. Thought his running in the 4th quarter got us going. Looked like the player from his Freshman season
3. TEs. Got them involved, and had too. PVAM was playing a cover 2 defense, safety over the top on the lone outside WR and the slot WR. So we started throwing to the TEs and they couldn't stop it
4. Burke's punt. That was huge! Great play by Inness to down it and by Haskins tackling him from going in the endzone
5. Coaching. Adjustments we made was the difference. 0 points given up in the 2nd half by the defense. I already mentioned the. TEs.
I'll take 2-0 any day. This team has a lot of room to improve, but with so many new faces and a young defense, the future is bright.

I will say that prairie view had some athletes. They were tougher than Lamar.
Need better line play on both sides of the ball. Need to get to the qb quicker. Unfortunately we’ve played two really athletic qbs the first two weeks. Run defense been fine.
Nice seeing DBs make one in one plays. Nice seeing big receivers go up and get the ball and nice seeing multiple WRs being able to make plays.
I think McIvor can be good. I’m willing to give him time to settle.

Our run defense is pretty salty, since after two games, our opponents are averaging just 2.7 yards per carry.

Our run defense is pretty salty, since after two games, our opponents are averaging just 2.7 yards per carry. Run defense has definitely been a strong point so far. Prarie View ran for 404 yards rushing in their first game against Texas Southern. ACU held them to 93 yds
