Coach Brandon Stover just tweeted that the Cats will play K State at the Crutch on Sunday at 3! Must be a last minute change. K State was scheduled to play a series at home this weekend against Milwaukee and we are scheduled for a three game series against Grand Canyon.
Snow is predicted for Manhattan this weekend, which may have prompted a change. On the earlier scheduled we were slated to play GC at noon on Sunday. Looks like the K State game will follow. I have asked for clarification and will post when I have more information. K State was ranked in the preseason top 25, although they have gotten off to a slow 1-7 start. Grand Canyon is a D2 move up team, like us. They finished as D2 runner up last year.

KState is a program on the rise. Before I left Kansas they had taken over the mantle of "the best college team" in the state from Wichita State. Brad Hill does a great job. Great challenge for the Cats (Wildcats vs. Wildcats=pretty cool; when I wear my ACU gear I'm frequently mistaken for a KSU supporter). KState may wonder why all those Wildcat fans are yelling against them.

Kansas St. won the big 12 last year. From looking at their early season results it's been a tough go of things so far. I wonder how this all came to be...who called who?

Pretty neat. Wish I could be there. And yes, WSU is putting together a great season and a pretty good, solid basketball program under Greg Marshall. 30-0 so far this year, with a great core back next year. Both Fred Van Vleet (PG) and Ron Baker are just sophs. But don't discount KU. They have some great individuals who will be great when they learn to play as a team. WSU, while lacking in superlative players does KNOW how to play as a team and it is fun to watch them dismantle their opponents. But I will say that WSU baseball may be coming back also. Their 1st baseman, Casey Gillaspie is a very impressive player and they have a quality pitching staff. They may make some noise this year under their new coach. Gene Stephenson slowly killed a quality program. I got to watch WSU play this past weekend in MB at the Caravelle Resorts tourney called Baseball at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina University. I also saw Illinois, George Mason, UCONN as well as WSU play.

While the men are getting thumped 7-0 by Missouri State the ladies are whipping Rhode Island in the Lubbock tourney 9-1 in the top of 5th. Don't get too excited though, they got walloped by Sam Houston 12-4 earlier in the day. I will say that the CBS GameTracker is pretty neat.

Maybe the baseball team got caught looking ahead to the K State game. Missouri State seems to be a pretty good squad. They took two of three from Central Arkansas, which beat us last weekend. Some good teams in Abilene for this make shift tournament. As much as I was looking forward to taking in the K State game tomorrow, a cold front is blowing in.b The high Sunday is predicted to be 35 degrees. I may go over to watch us play Grand Canyon today when the high is supposed to be in the mid-80's and skip the game tomorrow. I will probably opt to keep up with K State game on Stat Tracker from my warm living room instead of freezing my tail off. Guess that makes me a fair weather fan. Literally.

ACU beats Grand Canyon in extra innings 3-2. Hope weather is better than expected for tomorrow's game vs. KState.
