I'm not a Deion fan, but I have no problem what he said. He told those players I'm bringing my own guys. Which most stop there and think, that's awful, how can he say that. But here is what he is truly saying. If you aren't ready to put in the work, then go ahead and transfer. I'll keep you if you will do the work. If not I'm bringing my own guys. Said it about his own son. Most heard, he will be the starting QB, but then said, he has to put in the work

You can say Deion is a joke, but that just makes him a joke who knows how to win and has already changed the recruting landscape for the Buffs.
I also highly encourage everyone to go watch the full 8 minute introductory meeting with the team and not just the 50 second clip that was circulating from that meeting. The full video he made it clear, he wants players that aren't willing to accept mediocrity, are willing to work hard both on the field and in the classroom, to earn their spot on their team. If there was anyone willing to accept mediocrity, then they needed to get out.
If you like a coach that accepts mediocrity then you end up with 1-11 seasons like the Buffs just had.

I don't like him in general, never did. His speech to the players is no different than most any other coach speech and his actions going to Colorado were no different than most either. He is a joke though, a successful one in the world's eyes, but that's nothing new. I guess part of his success is not to take himself too seriously though. Back to ACU players in the portal.

Will be interesting to see if any D1 programs look at him. He certainly doesn't have much to show them from this last year. He seems like a good guy so it is a shame that he had such a poor year.

K Blair Zepeda has entered the transfer portal Even if he wasn't kicking well, I hate to see him go. He was indeed a good guy.

Blair is a great young man and a really good kicker. I do not know and don't think he knows what caused the problems this year. Of course there is an explanation for some of the missed kicks but others are a mystery as to why they weren't good. If you watched him day in and day out in practice and warm up before the games he is very impressive. Just a baffling situation. I wish him the best going forward both with his academic endeavors and his kicking. I would love to see him have a great year next year in order to wipe away some of the disappointment from this year. I do know that he was/is extremely upset over this years results. Just really hate it for him. He deserves better.

At this point, I don't know if we have a kicker. I suspect this will be a key search immediately. Blair had an adequate length, just an inconsistent Push-Pull problem and an occasional line drive. Watching warm ups, I did not see a backup kicking for the length we need, much less the accuracy. I am glad we have Patterson and his staff with their knowledge of players. Hopefully we get an outstanding one or somehow develop someone we already have.

I agree with Wildkitten. To me, it was equivalent to a baseball player getting the yips. In practice, in warmups, they make it look routine and easy. But all of a sudden in the heat of the moment, they can't throw/pitch, or in this instance, kick

No, Patterson... I was reading about the old Boise State coach. But I notice each year my fingers get further and further away from my brain. They just take off and type away on their own. Watching the Montana State game and seeing their kicker make a 50 yd FG that would have been good from 55 yds -- and in 15 degree weather on a frozen field -- makes me really hope for a great kicker next year.

I'm assuming he's gone because KP told him they were moving on Kitten, using this past year ONLY, one could say that about Blair. In the past 3 years, he was 63%, 75%, and 76+%. Blair was 3-3 from 51 yards or longer in those three years. He also consistently kicked off into the end zone, even this past year. I would consider those numbers indicative of a good college kicker -- maybe just short of a "really good" kicker, but still a good kicker indeed. This last year was an anomaly -- but it could not have come at a worse time. I hate that for Blair -- good guy who was active on campus beyond the football team. I don't know that he will drum up much interest for this "super-senior" year -- he could well be looking at a D-ll or NAIA school. I do agree with Kitten that he was probably told by KP that they would be looking elsewhere this next season and he was told enough in advance to let him look for another landing spot. I realize that it is still early in the transfer portal process -- we are 5 days into a 45 day portal window, but to date, ACU has only had 3 walk-ons and 1 kicker who struggled mightily this season, hit the portal. I am certain there will be more, possibly many more, hit the portal (I know of a couple of other players who have already said they are leaving), but the early rush is not dreadful for ACU.

So wrong! Really great hitters sometimes strike out 3-4 times in a game. Really great golfers sometimes shoot 85. Really great basketball players have horrible nights shooting the ball and/or making free throws. We are talking pros who make deca millions a year. Check out the number of kicks attempted this year. Look at the same number of at bats, shots taken, etc. over that same number of "attempts" in one or more consecutive games. We are talking MVPs, etc. Did you watch the Mavericks game lst night? So Doncic, Hardaway, and Finney-Smith aren't good basketball players? I'm just really glad that none of them play for ACU. We can't afford to have bums like that on our team. The kick attempts are 1-3 per game, if any, over a period 11 12 weeks. Give me a break.
