Overall, the name announcement for the new conference doesn't immediately change things much except to have us more structured. I believe that the ASUN had already floated the new name around before it came to fruition between the ASUN/WAC. Still, there will be developments and areas of discussion and thought a dedicated thread would be good. It's interesting that the UAC already has a Wiki article. I wonder when we will change the logo on Anthony Field. I wonder what the logo will look like? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Athletic_Conference

I did find that Oliver Luck, former XFL CEO & Commissioner, is the new Executive Director for the UAC. Prior to the XFL, Luck was DIA at West Virginia and an NCAA executive. He spent 5 seasons as a QB for the Houston Oilers and WVU. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Luck

Does this mean the WAC could add more basketball only schools?

After NMST and SHSU leave, the WAC is left with 11 BB schools. I have read (Somewhere?) that they would like to have 16 teams at some point.

Does this mean the WAC could add more basketball only schools? Who are other bb-playing schools that might fit the bill?

What's interesting is that the UAC would continue to push forward, even if not recognized as an official conference?

I think this article basically brings up a question that has always been on the table. Not everyone is necessarily invited to the party. Sure, they know and mingle with the guests on occasion, or even fairly regularly, but they aren't on the inside of the club. If the P5s continue to consolidate, eventually more and more G5 teams will get squeezed out. We know that the G5s and mid-major conferences didn't want to share their money with the UAC. IF the UAC ends up being a rotating conference for schools to move up, could it also serve for others that have decided to take the action of Idaho and move down? Now, we know that wouldn't be that large of a group of potential teams. It just leads back to what happens to the middle of College DI football? This article doesn't mention the UAC at all, but the UAC, I think, will end up being an interesting component of the continued dynamics. We know the UAC will remain FCS for the near future. What part does it play as compared to the other all sport FCS conferences, or the MVFC? www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/ncaa-football/college-football-expansion-conferences-could-drop-teams-analyst

I'll continue my trend of being the primary poster on this thread. I know there isn't much to actually post on. I thought that we might hear more after the June 1st moratorium expiration, but Nada, Nothing, Zilch and even Zero. It's now July and the UAC doesn't even have a website. I thought, is the UAC even formally admitted by the FCS? It is mentioned as one of the NCAA Division I conferences, surprisingly. At least it is on the Fear the FCS website, yes, not NCAA official. The NCAA website doesn't just have a list of conferences, and when you look at standings, they are of course last year and the WAC & ASUN are still separated out. ESPN doesn't have the UAC listed as an FCS conference. Instead, the ESPN site has the ASUN/WAC listed at the top and the "UAN" listed at the bottom; with no content of course. Of course, we don't even have a logo yet. I guess we can't change the logo on Anthony Filed without a logo to change it to... It'll all get done in 2 months, right?
