Actually I am just looking for reports on the practice sessions, but it feels like wandering in the off season desert.

Love it rc but don't think info is forthcoming. I don't understand why it has not been put together (by those in sports administration) that if you want support (money or seats in stadium), there needs to be a certain amount of information flowing to possible supporters. For some, like me, there is never enough info (I realize I'm an outlier but there could be many others like me), for others there just needs to be basic, timely info. Right now it seems we get neither.

Thanks guys, you get it. It is very much like wandering in the desert when we want information, anything really, about our Wildcats. This coming season will be a tough schedule but something is telling me our team will be the best we have had, maybe ever, since the level of competition is higher. This is the year we could really show we are proving our place in NCAA D-1 as a feared competitor. I just want a little information -- I am thirsty.

My wife and I are currently on a cruise between Newfoundland and Greenland and then Iceland. It is foggy with rough seas and 52 degrees as I write this. I’m not writing to gloat over the temperature, although I guess there is a bit of that. Met some ACU alums at a restaurant in St. John’s yesterday thanks to my ACU sweatshirt. I’m writing because a guest speaker on this trip is Mark Oristano, former radio broadcaster for the Cowboys and Oilers, still lives in Dallas, has written several books and is a bit of a motivational speaker. His presentations are an interesting mix of various football topics. I asked him what he knew about ACU football. He said “Abilene Christian is a program on the move. They made a great hire with Coach Patterson and he will lead them in the right direction.” I surmised he followed college level football but was surprised he knew so much about the football program. He also brought up Clint Longley. He said Staubach is 81 “but looks 40 and would still love to do 10 rounds with the Mad Bomber.” By the way, my brother told me there was an ACU commercial playing on Glenn Beck’s TV network.

Very cool post, and not just the weather! It is amazing how many people one runs into that know ACU as you travel the world. Sound like you found a very interesting person who remembered lots of the past. So here is another memory:
Years ago when the Cowboys were in Irving, Ray McGloghlin, my long time business partner, had the box right next to the press box. He gave Roger Stauback tickets to sit in his box. So Stauback would show up with his family and sit in the box with Ray for the games. One game I had a guest with me as well, a senior VP of a well known Association based in Chicago -- so he was a Bears fan. Anyway when Roger came in, my friend was shocked and asked if that was really the famous Stauback. I told him yes of course. So he runs down and buys a football and brings it to Roger to sign. He asked Roger to endorse it to his son and he gave Roger a name and said his son was just born... Roger signed the football and gave a nice note to the son's name, but the name the fellow gave Roger was not his son's name, it was his name. He had gotten Roger to endorse a football for his own treasured remembrance. We kidded him about it for a long time. BTW, when the game schedule was the early game on Sundays, Roger and family would show up about the end of the first quarter because he aways went to church first. Staubach was a quality guy. He later had a house built near Ray's lake front get away house at Horseshoe Bay. It was always cool to show people there the guest book with Roger's signature.
And by the way, Jason Buttrill, an ACU graduate, is the head writer for the Glenn Beck show according to Link'in.

For those that can get a little drink, tomorrow's scrimmage is open to the public. Hopefully some of you can make it and see what is happening. There are some good things to look forward to.
