CAT CHAT went live on August 18, 2013. We have grown over the years from 20 or fewer views per day to over 6,000 just today. I expect record views this fall especially if we get into a race for the football playoffs.
acutrackfan was the first member to join on the first day. wildcats0075, Wildcat Toothdoc, East Texas Wildcat and jaminthebody joined on the 19th, 20th, and 22nd along with a few others who are no longer active. Bogeyman joined on Sept 23, 2013 and is the most prolific poster over the years with 8,598 posts as of this afternoon. Cap'n Cattitude joined a few months later on April 18, 2014 and Mavsman53 joined on November 3, 2014.
By any measure, Cat Chat has been a success. I think we offer a valuable service to ACU fans and opponents and though they won't likely admit it, to Wildcat Sports.
So thanks to all the members over the years and especially our founder, the late Paul Ammons, aka Oscar Wildecat. We've been through a lot together.
So raise a glass of purple Kool Aid to 10 more years.....Cap'n

Ha, can I change my name to Number 2 like Star Trek.....
This board has been fantastic and a blessing to me in many ways and certainly not all of them are sports related.

I got my "feet wet" on the old LSC board but as it got more and more negative and combative I hated to make any comment at all. Then Paul started CatChat and it was like a breath of fresh air. We can still be negative at times (read, I can be) but for the most part the posts thru the years on this board have been very positive. I love having a place to ask questions and express opinions about the athletics I have loved since I arrived on campus in 1965. My sincere thanks goes out to Paul Ammons and others who started and have kept this message board operable. It has meant a lot to me.

So raise a glass of sweet tea to 10 more years.....Cap'n I did not remember that I joined the first day -- but then I don't remember a lot of things that happened 10 years ago! HA! Like several of you, I posted on the LSC board for several years, but the tone on that board was really toxic so much of the time. I also posted for many years on paid boards about Texas Tech T&F (I guess I am somewhat of an "expert" on Red Raider T&F). The T&F threads on those paid sites (I was given a free membership to post) were quite civil, but I tried to avoid the threads for football or basketball -- they were downright nasty. I finally stepped away from posting on the Tech boards -- I thought I would concentrate on CatChat. So, coming to this board was a breath of fresh air. There are sometimes disagreements, but they rarely, if ever, rise to the level of being feuds. Oscar Wildecat (Paul Ammons) was the perfect guy to get it started. His posts were always thought out and backed up with fact, very little opinion. Paul was a very wise man -- ACU was blessed to have him when he came out of retirement to make certain that the Social Work program would receive accreditation. He also brought an interesting perspective since he spent most of his career as a Professor at UGA and he was passionate about UGA athletics as well. I certainly miss Paul and his posts. I enjoy that we have picked up an interesting host of characters on the site. I love that Bogeyman is as passionate as he is about ACU athletics -- people that ae that passionate are few and far apart. Cap'n is also as knowledgeable as anyone about ACU athletics -- and he backs it up by going to see the teams with his own eyes and letting us Catchatters in on the info he gathers. Mavsman loves the minutiae of sports as much as I do -- he brings another crucial perspective to the board. Another lover of minutiae is JCat -- his posts are always backed up with facts and thought. It was also cool when the man who actually birthed the Physics Dept at ACC/ACU joined this board (thanks, RC) -- his stories about athletics at ACC/ACU are rich and personal. It continues to be a blast to read (almost) all of the posts on the board. Foremost, I love posting on CatChat because I personally know so many of the athletes I write about. I literally know every kid on the T&F team. That is a big reason I love following ACU athletics -- because these athletes are people I know and often people I will stay in touch with in the future. I could never have that opportunity at a larger university. And, it is made all that much sweeter that ACU is my alma mater -- a tie I will always share with ACU athletes. Keep the posts coming -- find more fans to join the board -- keep the board alive!

This board is the most civil and informative as any I have seen. Everyone is special. CatChat is a valuable asset to ACU and we are all very fortunate to have it (and the Cap'n does a great job as have all the moderators.) Personally, CatChat has become a habit that helps me stay strongly connected to ACU every day.
