PVAM won a wild overtime game against Texas Southern in Week 1, 37-34.
Trazon Connley led Prairie View A&M's passing attack with 275 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns and one interception.
Ahmad Antoine led all PVAMU rushers with 89 yards in the contest, picking up 4.9 yards per carry. Caleb Johnson also added 67 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
Connley's most prolific target in the ballgame was Jahquan Bloomfield, who caught two passes for 76 yards and one score. Trejon Spiller got in on the action in the passing game as well, hauling in four balls for 58 yards and one touchdown.
PV had 455 yds total offense but gave up 486. The game was won thanks to forcing 4 turnovers including 2 in Plus territory.
I watched some of the game and came away with the impression that their run defense is not all that good. With the Wildcat OL quite a bit better than TSU, it could be a long day for the Panthers as long as we don’t put the ball on the ground.

Agree, PVAM can be very good, but TSU isn't a good comparison for us. Our run game should give them fits. If we protect the ball and keep them off balance with our defense and passing game in between the runs, this should be an interesting game. I can't wait. I don't see them putting up 455 yards on us.

Connley started last year against the Cats, and Antoine also had a couple of carries. Given time to throw and space to move around, Connley is effective. ACU has added even more closing speed, a better pass rush, and an improved scheme. It will take the Panthers some time to get used to all of that.
I agree with others that the Cats running game can win in the trenches, but I'd like to see us be able to make them have to defend the whole field.

Getting close to game #2. I love our aggressive defense and hope we can consistently defend the run. We have so many good DB's that I just can't see Prairie View passing too much against us. Key will be getting some pressure and not allowing a pocket to protect their QB. We had a couple of defenders go down but didn't look like any were seriously injured. On offense, I'd like to see Maverick a little more accurate and I'd like to see Blayne Taylor targeted more and Hut Graham used a little (if he is in our plans at receiver). I like us using 4 RB's and if we can run, let's run the ball. Doesn't look like any TV or streaming, so I'll listen.

I will be down at the game, but hoping that it will be available on Sidearm at least by game time for others...

I am thinking something like 35-14 -- ACU. PVAM was much tougher last year than I expected. If the Wildcat defense plays like they did in 1st half last week, it might be hard for PVAM to reach 21 points. It will be much more humid in Prairie View than in Abilene, that could also have some impact. But, if the 4-headed running back corps establishes the running game quickly, ACU can control this game.

What's up with no TV for this game? ESPN+? I stocked up on popcorn and Pepsi thinking I could enjoy the evening.

PV barely has 20 athletics staff members, so no TV is no surprise. Pray live stats work. ACU also playing at PV makes as much sense as Tech visiting Wyoming. Throw them some bus money and a floor of hotel rooms with comped breakfast. Done deal.

Will be very surprised if PV can slow down our running game. Both the O line and the backs looked very good last week. I expect 40-50 running plays.

We were spoiled last year with the amount of games on ESPN+. Our schedule shows that only our home games are on ESPN+ this year. I hope that is incorrect.

I haven't seen many pundits listing what they think the score against PVAM will be, but I did see this one by Duane Nash who follows HBCUs for HERO SPORTS. ACU 24 PVAM 21 Not sure this one will be this close. The discrepancy at the line of scrimmage seems pretty big to me.

OK, if we are going to play away games with OOC opponents, we need to tell them they have to step up to TV broadcasts. To me that is part of being big time.

Who volunteers to go to the game and hold up their phone all night? We could have something of a FaceTime Conference Call and all watch it. 😂
