1. The purpose of Cat Chat is to provide an enjoyable and fun forum for fans, parents, opponents and others to have conversations about all aspects of ACU athletic programs as well as provide information that may not be readily available such as recruiting activity or nuclear reactors. While opinions are invited, Cat Chat is not a place to air grievances.
2. It’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we are talking about young men and women between 18 and 23 who get up at 5 am for lifting and working out, are required to attend every class, go to study hall and tutoring most days then participate in 2 hour practices. Being a D1 athlete is a 24/7 365 day labor of love for most of these young adults. So while critiquing performance is part of the conversation, it should be done with kindness and support. The same goes for coaches and referees. Questioning play calling or on field calls is expected as long as the tone is civil.
3. Same applies to interactions among posters. Keep it kind and keep it civil.
3. Players’ and coaches’ privacy is to be respected at all times. Details of injuries or discipline that are not already public are not to be posted on the board. The message threads allow members to have private conversations about such things.
4. Keep in mind that fewer than 10% of our members post regularly and that we have many, many non-member viewers. 1000’s actually over the course of a year. What you say and how you say it has a much bigger audience than you realize. ACU values should be reflected in every post.
5. Thanks to all of you who have come together to make Cat Chat the best fan forum anywhere.
