Relief pitching demands one thing above all else... do not walk the lead-off batter.

The game was on if you clicked watch from that ACU Sports page. I assume the same will be true Saturday. The screen says International viewer only, but if you click on through the log in using your ESPN+ credentials (which thankfully my computer remembered) you are taken to the game. Only one camera apparently from upstairs.
It was a sad affair which we should have won easily, but bad play and pitching lost it. For once I was pretty happy with the plate umpire. Was at the game in person till the end of the fourth inning when I got too cold and came home and watched the end on my Computer and my TV. I assume it is not a normal ESPN+ type telecast since it is Spring Break.

Sunday's game decides the series with UTA. They win first game 12-11 and we win the second 8-7. The weather was not baseball friendly and I had to check out during the first game as noted above and watch the second on my computer. We could have easily won both games. I just hope our pitchers did not damage their arms in the very poor weather. Today was cold and sprinkling. Yesterday was cold and windy.

A poor start to the third game. At least it is a normal ESPN+ program. We make errors and bad judgements and give the Mavs two free runs in the first inning. Our catcher does not catch a pitch he should have gotten, then throws the ball away trying (too Late) to throw to the pitcher covering home. runner scores as does a man on second. A bad play and two free runs.

Wildcats take the rubber game 7-3. Good job relief pitching. D'Alessio gets five hits, amazing. He is a fine hitter who plays the ball where it is pitched rather than trying to pull everything.

The rest of the game was superb. Cats win 7-3 with D'Alesdio going 5-5 with a 2B and HR. Bottom of the order is starting to contribute. Good start by Lanman going into the 7th.

Good game but I hate to see us leave so many men on base. Areas of the team are really starting to show improvement.

I'd like to see Garrett Williams start finding some holes.

First game with Utah Valley was a gift to the visitors. Relief pitchers issuing walks is about the worst thing to do. So we fill the bases and get to a full count trying twice to throw a breaking ball strike, then with no choice, we gut one down the middle and our Utah visitors enjoy a grand slam home run and a gift victory. It was a maddening way to lose a game. Second game this evening at 6 pm on Friday.

Guys survive the UVU comeback and win game two 8-6. Will see if the series pattern continues tomorrow.

The third inning was remarkable. 8 runs after two outs. UVU then spent the rest of the game trying to make their way back. They were making solid contact at the plate and pounding the ball but fortunately often it was right at a Wildcat. The two worries for me were we make errors at third base fielding and throwing, and our relivers still walk too many. Still, it was a good win against a pretty solid opponent. Seesaw game tomorrow (Saturday) at noon.
