Was the scoreboard issue only visible on tv? I certainly noticed it as well but I figured it was some kind of technical issue involving the broadcast camera that was behind home plate? I thought I caught quick views of the scoreboard from a sideline camera that didn’t have the flickering. Whatever the light issue, it was nice to finally beat UIW at something. Must have been. Oh, and totally agree on beating UIW!!!

Sad to see we lose the first two of three to GCU. Tonight we lose 2 to 3 but out-hit them 11 to 5? ?

It was a fine win but almost taken away by a call down the first baseline late in the game, a call that very much helped get GCU back into the game. Even their own player on first thought it was foul. But the best thing was our fine freshman pitcher, Brett Lanman. He pitched another fine game. But maybe equally as important was how our Wildcats did not choke in the bottom of the ninth. Now comes the test: we need to sweep Seattle and finish in the top four in conference. We are tied with two other WAC'er for the third and fourth spots now. Time to go to the final home stand later this week.

Seattle takes the first game from Wildcats in extra innings. We got beat by a young man who first wanted to attend ACU. Honestly, it was just as much poor game management by us. Their pitching was good, but our pitching was bad and many times our pitchers wanted to play games. The game was pretty much lost midway through (bad management and bad errors), then somehow, we find a way to get back into it in the 9th. Before that we couldn't hit a softball to save our lives. We tie the game up, have bases loaded and just need a base hit. We swing for the homerun and it gets caught, even though it's foul. Game over, after that we couldn't hit again, but our batters kept swinging for the fence. Our pitchers played games with their batters and their batters could actually hit solid base hits. In the big scheme of things this game doesn't mean anything, but I think it speaks to why this team isn't actually closer to being in the battle for the championship. Yes, they were tied for 2nd in the conference but the gap between 1st and 2nd was pretty big and we weren't pulling away from the rest. What I am saying is we are better than what I watched tonight. It was bad. A 9th inning rally is exciting for about 10 minutes, but the game shouldn't have gotten to that point and when it did, it should have ended there, it didn't. SU got right back in control. We looked asleep half the time. I have seen that several times throughout the season. I am loving another 30 win season, but it hurts to watch lesser teams play better, harder and smarter than us. We may very well end up winning games 2 and 3, like we have many others. I think too many game 1s could have actually been won as well this season. Rant over, we are going to the Tourney regardless, will see what happens there.

I fully agree with you. Poor base running or a bad third base coach kept us from scoring the winning run earlier. How we did not score again after tying the game in the 9th was a mystery.

That, or why didn't we go back and cover third base during a bunt? Also, lots of wild pitches (Not unusual for us) which SU took advantage of and stole base after base. The 3rd base play you are speaking of though still blows my mind.

Can't figure our standings now... WAC's latest show us now in 5th place and no longer exempt. We better win the next two.

Coach McCarty has been working overtime for 2 years to get the money raised for this new renovation to the stadium. He is a masterful fund raiser and friend-raiser. He has also done a fantastic job of reconnecting the program with baseball alumni, arguably the best job of any coach on the staff. You will notice on the announcement on-line that this addition is referred to as Phase 1. On the original plans that I saw, it had protective cover over all the stands, but I suppose they are still raising money for some of of the other perks -- that will be in Phase 2.

Interesting end to the ballgame today. Cats score 2 in the 8th to go ahead and the game gets called for Seattle to make airplane to get back home. Interesting! And very helpful to our cause. Now to see how other games turn out.

Looks like we tied with CBU and UVU for 2nd place and by virtue of CBU's record (34 wins) they get the 2nd seed over us (32 wins). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I saw all three games and was really impressed with the Seattle fans. They were so very nice. But over and over I heard them talking about how beautiful our campus is. I hope we are as nice attending away games as Seattle fans were at this series. Incredible. They cheered their team very emphatically, but when I got a chance to talk to several of them, they were amazingly nice and impressed with ACU.
