Ok, I see the info on Woodson on the recruiting thread. Coach Goodenough messaged me this morning and referenced that we have signed a PG (Bri Davis) and 2 shooters (Erin Woodson and ...). Do we know who the 2nd shooter is?

That's a shame. Have we heard any more news about the young lady from Arkansas?

My immediate reaction was, "what is she thinking?"

Call me naive, but how does Heard sign with ORU after signing a NLI with ACU back in November? Does she have to get a release from ACU? Does she have to sit out a year at ORU?
Not even addressing the serious drop in the level of team from ACU to ORU. And, the serious drop in academic rigor. Is there a chance that she did not get into ACU academically? That would not be a problem at ORU.

ORU is not a drop in competition. They play in the Summit League where they went 21-11 and were invited to the WNIT. If anything, she moved up competitively. Academically is another thing, of course.
Plus, ORU is a 22 minute drive from her home in Supulpa. With her sister at OSU, this is a good family move, I suspect.
Since she never played a minute for ACU, nothing lost and nothing gained. I wish her the best.

Cap'n, how does she bypass that she already signed a binding NLI with ACU that she signed last November? Did ACU "release" her when she got cold feet? Do we know if she had been accepted at ACU?

ORU actually announced her signing a month ago on April 17. (Or they edited their press release). If she asked for a release from ACU, I don’t think Julie would force her to stay. She might not have qualified but I think that is unlikely. Had she taken one ACU class this summer, then she would have to wait on the portal.
With few exceptions, ORU’s roster is from the Tulsa area. She might want to play with players she already knows.
ORU had a strong high school recruiting class. They look like they will be good going forward.

I know in other sports, as well as in basketball, ACU has usually released athletes from their NLI of requested -- thinking that an athlete who comes to campus disgruntled will only be a negative impact on a team. Also, it is difficult to prove tampering, if any exists here. Could the NLI going away be the next step in the dismantling of college amateur athletics? The NLI is overseen by CCA - Collegiate Commissioners Association. The NLI only applies to NCAA D-1 and D-2 school signees. Maybe the NLI becomes as porous as the transfer portal has made current student transferring.

I agree, Trackfan. What happened here seems to be that ORU did not offer and she signed with ACU. Then, after her senior year ORU came back and offered. We know that there are back door ways of communicating to a player to decommit so that someone else can offer.

ACU officially announced the signing of JUCO transfer Carlotta Gomez-Alonso. Sounds like a player in the mold of Bella Earle- a shooter but also a rebounder. She may be a little quicker than Bella as she averaged 3.4 steals per game. Julie calls her "a scorer." 5'10" shooting guard.

A few things-
First, Coach Goodenough knows WAY more about basketball than I do. That being said, I do struggle calling Gomez-Alonso a shooter when she shot 36% from the floor and 26% from 3. That is why I said a few days ago, she can score, but wouldn't call her a pure shooter.
Second, yes Tyla Heard had signed her Letter of Intent. However, if a player wants out, it is in the best interest of the school to let them out. Why? Do you want to try and keep a player that does not want to play for you any longer? So let her out, wish her well and let's try to keep adding

It is Tyla's loss. ORU does not compare academically, in my opinion, with ACU.
