I hope y'all are excited as I am. The Wolfpack have a big kid, Byler, who was drafted by the Nats and looks to be formidable. Can't wait to see the kind of team that Bonneau and staff have put together for this year.

Finally! I'll be there. Hoping we can take at least a game from them this weekend.

Am I right in saying that Byler was voted the preseason "player of the year" for college baseball? Great challenge for the Cats, right off the bat (no pun intended).

Will game #2 be different from game #1? Since we have determined what the most important needs are in basketball (one poster insists it is 6'1" and taller guards;who knew?), what about baseball? I think we need some "put out the fire" hurlers. What does this ACU team need? I realize it's early.

Yes it is super early. Hard to say after only watching one game. Baseball is such a day to day sport. Our pitcher obviously did not have his greatest stuff yesterday. We will definitely need some strong arms to hang in Division 1. I noticed our size is also somewhat small. Probably the only thing more important that good starters is having good depth at the mound which I am not sure if we have that yet. Anyone skipping sing song for baseball?

After an inning and a third, Nevada leads 7-0 and every batter in the Nevada lineup has a hit and two have two. May be a long series for the Cats. (:

Yesterday's game was a lot more competitive. We had decent pitching from deMeyere, although a couple of errors cost us the game. Relievers Sheets and Zotkya threw really well. I really like what I have seen from Zotkya. Our guys never really got into a rhythm at the plate, and left a lot of runners on base. Defense was good but definitely not great, I will chalk this up to a new season for now. Hoping our guys can settle down this weekend at Pan American, we have some big home games coming up in the next few weeks, notably Texas Tech (CWS attendees last year) and UTA.

I went out to the game Saturday, what a beautiful day. I am really surprised about how small our team looks. Our local high school team has a bigger starting lineup than ACU. I would be surprised if the heights and weights of our players are accurate on our published baseball roster. Now Nevada had some nice size dudes that could hit the ball. Byler was a beast. It was good to see the Wildcats make a game of it after not being competitive early and after the drubbing on Friday.
Hope for some better ball here on out.
