My thoughts on the season so far: We have two quality road wins over solid top 25 or near top 25 mid-major opponents. In this we should rejoice. I share Bogey’s disappointment over the loss to OU though. A win by a top 25 Mid Major team over a middle of the pack or lower school from one of the big conferences should not be considered a major upset. It should be expected.
Northern Iowa is a good example to illustrate this point. UNI is ranked 14th in the same mid major poll that currently has us at 17th. They have picked up wins over Iowa (5-1) and Missouri ( 2-6). I understand that every team has off nights and that sometimes we just won’t match up well with another team. Those are givens in basketball and all sports. So I certainly don’t want to make too much of our loss to the Sooners. We lost. We shrug it off and go on.
What I’m reacting to is the notion that simply beating a lower level team from the Big 12 or one of the power conferences would be a major upset. Baylor, sure. But OU is no Baylor, at least in women’s basketball.

I agree, Oscar. There is one caveat, however. Iowa actually played at UNI in Cedar Falls. There is not a P5 or G5 team from a Texas who would lower themselves to playing in Abilene. Tulsa will be in town on Thursday for a game that was originally scheduled with Tech. Despite that game being scheduled so that Brittany Brewer could play in her home town, the AD vetoed it and bought us out.

OU isn’t very good. We coulda/shoulda beat them. Rumors abound that Sherry Coale is on her way out.

Sloppy half of basketball by the women. Down 6 after being up by 8. Sloppy passing and dribbling. Sam must have 10+ steals, a majority in the open court. We have to move more when we are on offense. We have an advantage in height but keep lowering the ball and they reach and grab. Mabry sometimes looks like a statue, loses the ball and then stands and watches. Sam subs on almost every dead ball. If they continue to press (big time foul trouble) we'll be exhausted by mid-4th quarter. Every position is important.

I see we just offered Grace Foster a 6'2" player from Childress for 2021. She is not polished but has very good basketball instincts. Has long range potential and has a mid range jump shot. She moves around in the post and has a variety of ways to score. She is a rebounder and shot blocker. Average nearly 20 pts per game as a junior. This girl is a keeper. Sign her up.

It appears that the staff is still looking to add pieces to the 2020-2021 roster. They are actively involved in the transfer market, looking for at least 1 more player, possibly 2. I won't share names yet, as nothing appears imminent, but I do expect at least 1 addition.
