I agree with you Oscar. I think the staff will focus heavily on RB and LB. I also think DE, depending on what happens with Kam Hill. The staff might have decisions to make on Previllon and Freeny. If all 3 are gone, then we are only left with Obadeyi and Paup as players with any experience.

It's always interesting to see who goes and who stays at the end of each season. This interest will be multiplied this winter.

Mavsman, I thought Kadron Johnson had a great game against Army -- I think he was playing DE, but it might have been DT, I was listening to the game, not watching on TV. But, the Kam Hill-Reynel Previlon-Garveia Freeny possible 2021 return will be an interesting twist to next season.

I think, if Johnson played DE, it was to get a bigger front out there, since Army runs the ball so well. I'm fairly confident he is a DT.
Another thing to watch will be who we target to transfer into the program. With the one-time rule that players can transfer without having to sit a year, it will be wild. I anticipate the staff will be active here again and we might see another 50/50 split between HS recruits and transfers

Thought this might happen a few months ago, but just a few minutes ago RB Jar'Quae Walton committed. More in a moment.
Walton had offers from Pitt St, Navy, Army, UIW, Air Force and Northwestern St. He had interest from La. Tech and New Mexico

We certainly need to increase our numbers (depth) at RB. What do we see as strengths in Walton?

Here is his Hudl tape from last year- www.hudl.com/v/2CcQwRGood runner; hits the hole well; puts his foot in the ground and goes Looks to run through people; finishes runs well Catches the ball with his hands, not body Willing blocker

At 5'9" 173 he's not going to run through many college defenders. Maybe I saw the size wrong.

That is the right size (5'8, 175). I disagree. Dobbins weighs 185. Very few players stay at their high school weight.

I'm just going to say this, we say "I sure wish we could get some commits." Then, we get a commit and the first comment is, he seems small. This board cracks me up sometimes

You crack me up. Who said he was too small? I asked for his strengths. You said he tries to run thru defenders. I said at 173 that's not going to happen. Glad to add him. We need depth. If he adds some weight and can run over people, so be it.

He's coming from a strong program in Waco La Vega so that is a positive. I will be thrilled if he is another Jermiah Dobbins. I can't wait to see what Dobbins does over the next 4 years.

Bogey, read your own stuff before you post it! You said, that he is not going to run through many college defenders at 5'9, 173. So are you calling him too big or too small? Hmmm...let me answer for you, You are saying he is too small. I'm also saying watch his tape before you smart off and say he can't run through defenders. He does it repeatedly on tape. Will he do it in college? Who knows. You asked me what I saw and I told you, but your first comment was he's not going to be able to do that in college because he is 5'9 173.
Again, we can't have it both ways. We cry because everyone commits somewhere else. Oh we get a commit and the first comment is, welp, he can't do this and this and this.
We could go back to the good ole days 5 years ago where we didn't get a single commit until November. I for one and pretty stoked that we have 5, 5 commits as of October 27. None of our recruits are perfect, but each are solid players that will hopefully help this team. ACU has had success with smaller players; Darrell Cantu Harkless was 5'7 175, Taylor Gabriel was 5'9 175 and Charcandrick West was 5'9 190. All were freshmen in 2010 and all ended up being really solid players. Will Walton become one of those guys? We can only hope, but let's give the kid a chance to get on campus before we become too critical of his size.

On a totally different note, we have offered a PWO to OL Caedmon Carter from Grapevine Faith HS. Carter is listed at 6'3 245 and yes, I think he will get bigger

I believe we may already have our bruising running back on our roster right now - Jermiah Dobbins. I have been very impressed with his leg strength -- he appears able to push the pile forward, even though he is not a huge guy. He reminds me of Tracy James in his first year at ACU and Tracy could bang with the best of them by the time he was starting at RB for ACU. Add another 10 pounds to Jermiah and I think opposing players will rue every tackle they make on Jermiah.
