Brock has a great HS football/athletic program, although they were upset a week ago by the mighty Jim Ned Indians in the playoffs. The girl's b-ball coach at Brock is former ACU women's b-ball coach Shawna Lavender. And, the Eagles have a big ol' TE in football -- a 6-5, 240 pound junior named Nathan Jones. Yep, he is the grandson of former ACC/ACU football letterman and head football coach Dewitt Jones and the son of former ACU letterman Jay Jones (started FB career at UT and finished at ACU, where he was an All-American). That means that he is the great-grandson of former ACC/ACU letterman and head football coach and Dean, Garvin Beauchamp. That would be so cool to have a 4th generation ACU football player!!

Here is where things stand with recruiting
1. The staff has a little over 5 weeks until the Spring semester begins. 2. I do not expect a lot of recruiting to happen between Dec. 23-Jan 3, so take 10 days 3. That means that ultimately the staff has 3 and a half weeks until the early signing period is completed
What is the staff focused on: 1. Everything. I've never seen a coaching staff under Dorrel work this hard at recruiting. Only time will tell if it works. Trust me, they are looking everywhere for players, even as far as Wisconsin! The plan right now seems to look high and low at players. Next week, I think the staff will begin to narrow down the focus on who is showing real interest in us and I anticipate offers to go out in bulk.
On Offense- OL looking at lots of transfers; FBS and JUCO). With 4 OL starters gone, major need here! WR again looking at dropdowns; seem to want guys that are 6'0+
Defense- DE- staff is focused on HS kids that have good size, 6'4 and up DT- again looking to get bigger. Following HS and dropdowns that are 280+ LB- I expect at least 3 more LBs added to this class. Already 2 committed. Look for 2 transfers and 1 more HS player S- Seems like they are just starting to get going at this position. I would expect at least 1 transfer into the program here
Will there be any coaching changes? At the moment, I am going to say no. Could that change, sure, but as Dorrel said at his last press conference, he really likes this staff and thinks they do well together.
It appears that none of our current seniors will be back. There will also be others (non-Seniors) that transfer out. None have officially that I can tell, but there are several players in the secondary that appear to be looking around.

I hope we are looking for some running backs. Only having two true backs hurt us at times this year. As far as coaches, this year was a wash for me. Give them all another year and then decide on changes.

I should have mentioned that Bucfan. They are, but so far, it has been a little slow going. One of the transfers they were interested in, transferred to Vandy. Many teams FBS teams end there season this week or next. I expect a lot more names to be added to the transfer portal.
We have added RB Jar'Quae Walton. I saw a tweet on him, I'll add it on here soon that was really promising about him. I still anticipate at least 2 more backs added; 1 transfer and another HS player

I don't know if coaches look at this page for potential recruits, but I'm going to give this a try. It's my last option. Lipscomb Academy lost yesterday in the state championship. They have a strong team and are very well-coached by Trent Dilfer and a staff of 28, including former NFL players, a Nutritionist, a Chief of Staff and a SID. Here are a few players that we should be looking at -- Eli Miller: Sr LB, 6'2", 220 lbs, 28 ACT, 3.5 gpa, 62 tackles, 9 for loss, 3.5 sacks, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team Academic All-State. www.hudl.com/video/3/9506591/5fbfbe5990f03a08201f5912 Luther Richesson: Jr QB, 6'3", 205 lbs, 140-of-211 passing for 2,266 yards with 24 touchdowns, 7 interceptions. www.hudl.com/profile/11401607/Luther-Richesson Jayden Lyles: Jr FS, 6'0", 190 lbs, 5 interceptions, 45 tackles with 11.5 for loss. www.hudl.com/profile/7607637/Jaden-Lyles Tate Taylor: Sr LB, 6'0", 210, LB/P, First Team All-Region, Mr. Lipscomb, Tate would like to walk-on at Auburn as a Punter. www.hudl.com/profile/6019813/Tate-Taylor
Zach Larkin: Sr DL, 6'0", 235 lbs, 4.0 gpa, National Playmakers Academy, First Team All-Region. www.hudl.com/profile/9582216/Zach-Larkin

The best way to let coaches know about players is through twitter. Several of the coaches have direct message, so if it is a player you know about, you can send them a direct message about the player. Trust me, they will get it, review it and then decide if the player truly interests them or not

Why we don’t actively recruit high schools with C of C roots remains a mystery to me. Greater Atlanta, Harding Academy and Lipscomb have all turn out D1 players each year and for whatever reason we’ve never been active in recruiting their football grads even though we actively recruit those campuses for students.

New name to watch. No offer yet, but I do believe one is coming soon.
OL Dalton Merryman from Montgomery, HS. Dalton is 6'9 (yes, 6'9), 315. He originally committed to SFA, but de-committed on December 3. He also holds offers from UIW and Tarleton St. While his offer list does not sound super impressive, he has been racking up PWOs
Dec. 2- Oklahoma St Dec. 7- TCU Dec. 8- Texas Tech Dec. 8- Houston

I notice there is a sophomore running back on that Monterey team named Dobbins. Wonder if he is related to our Dobbins since they are both from Lubbock. I know our Dobbins has a little brother that is QB at Estacado.

This is a big get Now this is the kind of athlete I think we've been losing to other SLC schools. Would love to hear why he chose us over these other programs. That type of info could really help us as we recruit similar players. Great job by the coaches on securing Tyrin!
