Welcome, PonyUp. Yes. Peyton Mansell played ACU’s 2020 season after transferring from Iowa. Like SMU, we have multiple QB’s worthy of PT.

He started last year against Virginia and has been doing VERY well this Spring and Fall camps. More than likely you will see a little of both during the game.

Stone will have to stretch quite a bit to get to 6’2. He’s more like 6’0. Mansell is 6’2.

Stone was named the starter by Dorrel this morning in a press conference.

WOW! I would love to see Stone really crush it this season. For you old-timers, my wish is that Stone is the 2nd coming of Jim Lindsey. He reminds me of Jim a lot physically. If Stone ends up anywhere close to Jim, ACU could well end up with a much-improved team in 2021.

Much faster than Jim was.

What Jim had was good pocket presence and a cannon arm. He never was a big threat to take off and run, although he was one of those guys who was "sneaky fast". The thing that reminds me of Jim in Stone is that blend of humility, yet a quite confidence in his abilities. If the game was tight at the end, Jim was always confident that he could pull it out of the fire -- not in a desperate way, but he always thought he could get it done. I see some of that in Stone as well.

Talked to one of the WR yesterday and asked him who he hoped it would be. His answer? The young guy. lol.

And Bill Lockey at TE.

Thanks, Bogey. I was trying to remember Lockey's name. What did all three had in common? They practically never dropped a ball that got to their hands and all three were perfectly in tune with Jim Lindsey -- Lindsey could always know where they would be 3-5 seconds from then.
