Here are a few surprises from the first 2 games-
QB Mansell is playing the Sema'J Davis role. He is the change of pace QB
RB Quae Walton is getting way more playing time than I thought he would at this point
WR Davion Johnson has really stepped his game up; Taelyn Williams does not have a catch yet; Jackson Young is ahead of McCasland who seemed to have a some really solid scrimmages
OL Thielen starting over Melrose and Howerton; Jaron Marshall and Ty Smith are way down the depth chart
DE Tyrin Bradley is in the rotation at DE; Obadeyi, who had a solid Freshman year 2 years ago is pretty far down the depth chart
LB Brannon is NOT starting; Coheley looks to be real deal; Kyle Pointer has yet to play
CB Satterfield, who started several games this year, is at least the 5th CB on the roster this year
S Kam Stokes, much like Satterfield is behind several others; Jamal Marshall, possibly our top ranked high school prospect this year, has yet to play or have a number
What else?

Not really a surprise but Ryan Stapp is a player. Glad to see freshmen like Bradley, Walton and Coheley getting snaps. Thielen must be a dude to take a starting position away from established OL. Would love to start seeing some DL standout. Our DB's should get a challenge Saturday. I hope they are up to it.

Wondering how well Trey Adams is doing at LB. I haven't watched our LB play as much as I usually do.

I was also impressed by the play of Melrose and Tate at LT and LG in backup roles. They looked very strong and seemed to work well together.

Speaking of Sema’J, there was a report earlier that said he would be on the sideline of home games. I forgot to look - I hope he was able to be there.

I think that Sema'J will call the coin toss. The Davis' will be the President's guests for this game.
Another youngster who had a good game against LA College was Landon Eades -- 3 unassisted tackles. His Father is the preaching minister at Oak Hills in San Antonio -- has taken Max's place.

Landon is a good kid!

To be 3-1 at this point is an early season surprise in itself, especially in the way that we beat Lamar.
