While I don’t think this game was an aberration, I don’t think we we are 56 points better than Lamar. They are so one dimensional, even with the option, that playing from behind is very difficult for them. At least compared to Lamar, our defensive speed was impressive. Brown is a terrific DC. He had those guys prepared.

Any chance you can cut and paste this? It’s behind a paywall out here.

ybp80 asked about attendance by ACU fans. I would guess no more than 300-500 ACU fans

KJMike, thanks for the attendance estimate. That would actually be a pretty good crowd for ACU in Beaumont. The ACU Alumni Office does not even try to host anything for alumni for Beaumont events due to what is usually a pretty small turnout for ACU events there. I wonder how many of the purple-clad fans might have been related to Tyrese. I was thrilled to see him have big game when he went to Hamshire-Fannett HS -- just outside Beaumont. ACU simply does not get many students from the Golden Triangle, even though Houston is the fastest growing area for new students coming to ACU.

One bad outcome from the game is that Robert McKnight injured his leg on a kickoff during the game and will have surgery on it this week according to his mother. Since he is one of our few seniors on the roster, his playing days at ACU are probably over.

Since he is one of our few seniors on the roster, his playing days at ACU are probably over. Hate hearing this! Robert thought about it long and hard before coming back for his 6th season of football -- he redshirted 1 year in JC before coming to ACU and then had that COVID redshirt last year. The kid always fought hard -- primarily on special teams.
