According to Massey, this game is literally a toss up. We are favored by .5 point. Need to do my homework but we know that the Cardinals upset Northern Colorado on the road this weekend. Definitely a step up from the last two games but winnable in my opinion.

I think this game is winnable and we should be able to match up against them defensively. Again, the issue is if we can move the ball effectively and stop the penalties. This game could be determined by turnovers as well. In my mind, we probably split the two Lamar games, but which ones? If we can focus this week and fix some of our mistakes, it's possible to take both. Unfortunately, I don't hold out hope for better play calling and that could bury us.

I also, think we can win this game, but it will not be easy. As with most games, if we win the turnover margin we will most likely pull the game out. I will be at the game at Lamar rooting for the wildcats.

Agree it won’t be easy but I believe the team is hungry to win and, if we value the football, will.

I think that 2 minute end of half performance woke up some team members and made them hungry for more. ACU by 14.

I looked carefully at Lamar's first 3 games and we should have the advantage although nothing good ever happens in Beaumont. They don't have much of a passing game so we should be able to man-up on their receivers and play 8 in the box against the option. Our front 7 hss shown a lot of discipline so if we don't give up big plays or get penalized too much....
A little harder to call offensively. They got smashed by UTSA. Northern Colorado has not put up very good offensive numbers so we should be harder to stop than the Bears were.
I'm going out on a limb and give ACU a 21 point win.

Cattitude, I think UIW beat Texas St, not UTSA

Cattitude, I think UIW beat Texas St, not UTSA You’re right on UIW taking down SWTexas State Teachers. Likewise, I concur with Cattitude’s overall analysis. Our playing a quality SMU team will matter.

Cattitude, I think UIW beat Texas St, not UTSA Yeah. That would have been a big win, for sure. Thanks for setting me straight.

This game truly comes down to can we stop their rushing attack and can we protect Earle-
Lamar is led by Sophomore RB Chaz Ward. Ward is listed at 6'0, 234. They also have WR, turned RB James Jones who is the complete opposite (5'8, 167)
QB Jalen Dummett is also a threat to run, with 24 carries in 3 games
Lamar has only thrown 32 passes all season, so if we can get ahead, they might have to change their gameplay
On defense, they have 10 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. They are a 3-4 team. They use their LBs to rush the QB a lot S Anthony Ruffin, has 17 tackles LB Aaron Calcoate has 15 tackles and 4 tackles for loss S Divin Buckrham has 11 tackles LB Desmond Veals has 8 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks

Our last trip to Beaumont was an entirely winnable game, but we could not get enough stops (Lamar 81 total plays, 11-17 on 3rd down, 500+ yards). We won the turnover battle +2 but were 3-11 on 3rd down.
I recall Jalen Dummett's recruiting tape. He's got a big arm and is a threat to run. Lamar's scheme in the past has been veer/option-oriented so they present different challenges for our defense. But I don't know if they are still running this style of offense.
For ACU to win by 3 TDs, Stone Earle will have to find targets downfield, and the Cats will have to sustain drives with 3rd down conversions. If we don't convert 50% on 3rd down, this will again be a very tight game.

Does anyone think we will be able to get any video streaming for the first Lamar game?

Does anyone think we will be able to get any video streaming for the first Lamar game? It’s on ESPN+. Or are you talking about their games earlier this year?

Does anyone think we will be able to get any video streaming for the first Lamar game? It’s on ESPN+. Or are you talking about their games earlier this year? I was thinking the same thing, but neither the ACU or Lamar athletic websites have ESPN+ listed and only have listen options. I did finally get a chance to search on ESPN+ and see it there. It just really gets me when the athletic sites won't list it, but they list everything around it. It makes me think it really isn't going to be streamed.

I saw the game listed on ESPN+ on the ACU Facebook post about the game today or yesterday.
