Major Madness tweeted his initial 2021-22 small conference Top 25 yesterday. Curious how that compared with the inaugural NCAA BET rankings, here goes a comparison (in order per MAjor Madness with team's corresponding NET ranking in parentheses):
1. Iona (59) 2. SDSU (113) 3. Weber St. (46) 4. UT@Chattanooga (27) 5. NMSU (97) (won last nite in OT @ New Mexico) 6. Grand Canyon U (72) 7. Winthrop (154) 8. Norfolk St. (206) 9. Vermont (102) 10. Campbell (95) 11. Monmouth (41) 12. Liberty (119) 13. Utah Valley (77) 14. Navy (53) 15. Southern Utah (151) 16. Western Illinois (92) 17. Princeton (103)(last beat Drexel in OT) 18. Harvard (169) 19. Furman (81) 20. Eastern Kentucky (226) 21. Wofford (117) 22. UMBC (143) 23. SFA (163) 24. Manhattan (241) 25. UMass-Lowell (159) __. a&m (56) __. Utah (58) __. ACU (85) __. Drexel (174) __. CSU-Bakersfield (189) __. UTEP (232) __. UTA (262)
Observations:
A. I like the NET rankings much better; B. Wildcats are doing well despite recent competition; C. Great opportunities upcoming; and D. WAC-tion, especially against @ Utah Valley (12/30), @ GCU (1/13) and @ NMSU (1/15) will be HUGE
Go Wildcats!!

The next couple of games will say a lot, especially Drexel. I think that is our toughest up until UVU. Even though Drexel, CSUB and Longwood are a little below us in ranking, I think we move up if we win all 3 of those. The next BIG test is UVU on Dec. 30th @ UVU. Drexel is winnable, even though it will be very tough. Beat UVU and then we can talk a little going into conference play. Until we beat one of the upper WAC teams above us, our relevance in the WAC will still be wanting. With that, so will the Mid-Major polls. We still have a long season ahead of us though.

Agreed on all counts. Also, will be curious to see how TCU fares tomorrow night (I believe) against Utah.

That big boy at UVU is a matchup nightmare for ACU. He is a matchup nightmare most places. He will play in league.

Wow, that guy is hitting over 20 points a game and almost 15 rebounds a game. Beast!

He will be tough to guard, but not impossible. We won't stop him, but we just need to slow him down enough. Can we do it without double teaming and leaving another hole somewhere else? The key will still be our angles and disrupting his abilities. I am both a little worried and intrigued as to what we will be able to do.

FYI, UVU and SUU are tied up at 50 each midway through the 2nd. They seem to match up well.

They have also lost the last 3 games against SUU and about to lose this one. UVU is winnable. VERY tough, but winnable.
