I know all the cautionary notes-- Another school may "flip" some of our commits. They may not all qualify. Some, like Sealey, might be drafted and sign to play pro baseball. Others might look good but never live up to their potential. And, of course, the biggest limitation of all: Rankings are all based on the scouting reports of the various sites such as Rivals, Scout, and 247. We all know such reports are often flawed. I have probably left out a couple of reasons why we should not be excited just yet.
Even so, it is hard not to be pumped up about this class. I spent several hours yesterday net surfing to look at how other schools are doing. My overall assessment is that this will be one of, if not the best, signing class in the Southland Conference, an elite class among all FCS schools, and better than the 2014 classes of many mid-majors in CUSA, the Mountain West, and Sun Belt conferences.
And we may sign a few guys who have been off the Cat Chat radar to make an already excellent class even better. Pretty amazing for a FCS newbie who won't be eligible for the playoffs until this class reaches their senior year, or junior year for red shirts.
I will wait until after signing day to assign overall and position group letter grades. For now, suffice to say its all A's and B's. And I have always been considered a tough grader.

It looks like I will be staying indoors today so I may have a little time to think about a grade for this class.
My wife and I were waiting for our congregation to make the call to cancel worship services. When that didn't happen I walked down the sidewalk to the street to check conditions. Slid down the sidewalk and the street is covered with what the local news is calling a "wintery mix." Temps are not supposed to get above freezing today.
I am a big person. I can make my own call. Worship service is cancelled.

One way of grading the class is to look at whether we met our needs. According to Coach Collums"
"We've got to get some big bodies along the offensive and defensive line," Check. Big, mobile linemen on both sides of the ball, especially on D.
"I'd like to get one quarterback to come in here and immediately compete for the starting job,". Check. Not one, but two mobile QBs. "two or three" receivers who will probably have to make an immediate impact on the team. Two, not three. Chris Lide will probably redshirt, so one transfer who looks capable of making an immediate impact.
"at least one running back and "maybe two". Found one. Could have used a strong inside runner to go with Marcus Ellis' edge and receiver abilities.
"We've got to find some inside linebackers who can come in and make an impact for us right away," Collums said. "Our outside linebackers need to be safety-type guys who can run and hit and play sideline-to-sideline." Check. On paper, the strongest group of linebackers in ACU history.
Add to these priority needs a couple of top notch DB's, and this is shaping up to be a class to remember. A surprise WR and another quality RB would be added bonuses.

I can't take it anymore, I need some news, I need some updates.
I can't wait to compare our class to the rest of the Southland. It seems as if even HBU is winning some kids over as well. Will be a fun day!
