The Longwood coach sure has an interesting background. 16 years as a corporate attorney while coaching AAU basketball for fun. I can imagine the conversations on CatChat if ACU hired someone like him with so little college coaching experience. Seems to have paid off for Longwood though.

Yes, kinda like the flac that Joe Moglia (CEO/President of CD Ameritrade) garnered when named HC at Coastal Carolina. Make no mistake, Joe's core business values and the groundwork he laid has brought CCU to where they are today.

The scary part of this game was that a team about our same size outrebounded us pretty soundly especially on the offensive end (13-3). Forcing 23 turnovers negated their rebounding edge. Steele is having real difficulty getting good position on both ends of the floor. Hard fought win by a group of winners. On another subject Evan did a great job calling the game. Can we hire him? Thanks, bogeyman. It was a fun time -- and a good game to call, too!

Funny how the WAC board, with a couple of exceptions, does not recognize much about our athletics. We need a strong conference showing, which is well within our grasp and ability. We need a little more height. Just imagine if Simmons was a 7 footer and could move like he does. That could be a first round NBA draft pick. I do think we have an outstanding 14 person team (or whatever the number is) and they all have special strengths, we just need more height and more time for our new bigs to develop (and a couple more of them.)

What the hell was that shoulder check by Coryon. Can’t have an undisciplined foul like that from your leader. Might be a foul that brings us a little energy. Most likely was, it's like in hockey when players try to start fights to bring some energy to the benches when the game has been pretty mellow.

OK. I misspoke. Soundly was not the right term. My original post stated we were outrebounded (soundly--bad choice of words) by a team "about our size." It's the "about our size" that was the scary part to me. We are less than tall so I understand that taller teams have a real rebounding edge on us. I beg to differ that Longwood is "one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the nation." They have played as many patsies as we have and you build stats in 40 point blowouts (they have 5 of them) over lesser teams. In every game against similar or better competition they have lost (and I haven't checked all their stats but I bet they've been outrebounded in most of their losses). That said, I love our team, we play hard, harder and most times hardest. We break other teams will (I think we did this to a capable Longwood team last night) by the way we play. I cheer our team and am as big a backer as most of you. I've played basketball and know basketball and tried my best to point out a challenge we have (positioning is key in basketball). We shouldn't get outrebounded by a team of similar size when we give as much effort as we do. But some nights the ball just doesn't bounce our way and we'll get beat on the boards by a similar team. Happened last night. We'll win more than we lose when we stay within 5 rebounds, not sure about 10 on the offensive end (that's 10 more positions right there). I love our team!!! A criticism every once in a while ought to be OK but I'm a lightening rod to some, so I understand! Mercy, I need mercy!!! Bogeyman desires mercy and not sacrifice.
