We lucked out with Kolton Kohl being a local kid and turning out to be a successful project. Since the 1-2 punch of Kohl and Joe it’s been a struggle. I don’t know what we need but it needs to be a rebuild and we have to identify our strengths with who we do have and coach towards those. We never looked to have an identity this year or a flow to our offense and our defense gave up lots of open looks without forcing the turnovers of the previous two seasons.

I wonder if Bettiol was our most efficient scorer on a points per minute basis.

Easy to determine from the individual stats on ACUSports. Bettiol averaged 5.8 minutes per game and 4.0 points. For 40 minutes that would yield 27.5 points per game (with no rest.) No one else is close.

Was visiting with a couple from the Dallas area today at the baseball game. They have a son on the team and others at other universities or planning on going to college. I asked how their ACU son liked ACU and they were efusive about the university and the baseball team. You have to like getting positive feedback like that.

Cinco Boone added as an assistant coach for Men's Basketball. A little more about him-
Boasting more than 100 career wins and four NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament appearances as a collegiate head coach over the past seven years, Cinco Boone has joined the UT Arlington men's basketball staff as an assistant coach. Boone comes to UTA from D-II Angelo State and replaces Riley Davis, who accepted a similar position at East Carolina. During his time at Angelo State, Boone amassed an overall record of 129-67, qualified for the Lone Star Conference Tournament each of his seven years at the helm and made the aforementioned four trips to the D-II NCAA Regional Tournament, reaching the 2016 Final.
Boone won at least 20 games four times as ASU's head coach, averaging better than 18 wins per season, including the COVID-19 impacted 2020-21 campaign in which the Rams played just a conference schedule and 18 total games. Boone guided the Rams to 70 Lone Star Conference victories – an average of 10 per year – during his time in charge. With the league success, Boone developed an incredible 20 all-conference players in the past seven years. Before becoming ASU's head coach, Boone helped guide the Rams to a 47-15 record during two seasons as the associate head coach from 2013-15. He became the sixth head coach in ASU's history after now-Texas coach Chris Beard left for the same position at Little Rock.
Boone arrived at ASU with prior coaching experience at the D-I, D-II, junior college and high school levels, including working as Beard's assistant coach at McMurry during the 2012-13 season which followed two years as an assistant at Stephen F. Austin. He also had prior head-coaching experience at Jacksonville College and was a graduate assistant at Hardin-Simmons and an assistant at Portales High School (New Mexico). A Portales, N.M. native, Boone earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico in Mathematics after graduating from Portales HS. His first coaching position came at his high school alma mater where he was the assistant varsity coach from 2003-06. Boone began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Hardin-Simmons during the 2006-07 season, earning his graduate degree in Sports Recreation and Management in 2008.

Another new assistant for Coach Tanner--
University of Central Missouri Interim Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Kathy Anderson announced Wednesday, March 1, that Doug Karleskint has resigned from his position as head men's basketball coach. Karleskint recently completed his ninth season as Mules head coach.
"UCM athletics thanks Doug and his family for all of their contributions and for being such a positive part of our athletic family. Doug gave tirelessly of himself to the men in his program and UCM athletics. We wish him and his family all the best in the future," Anderson said.
UCM President Roger Best also noted, "Coach Karleskint is a person of tremendous character and integrity, and I appreciate his leadership and development of the men in our basketball program over the last nine years. His strong commitment to UCM and our mission during his tenure was unquestioned, and I wish him much success in his next opportunity."
In his nine seasons with UCM, Karleskint posted a win-loss record of 135-119. During his time as head coach, the Mules won 20 or more games three times. His 25 wins in 2014-15 are the most ever for a first-year head coach in program history, allowing the Mules to advance to the second round of the NCAA Division II Regional Championship. He led Central Missouri to top-five MIAA finishes three times, including runner-up performances in 2014-15 and 2016-17.

A little more about Coach Henderson
Before joining the Golden Lions staff, Henderson spent six years as Central Oklahoma's assistant men's basketball coach. Henderson came to the Bronchos in July 2015 after a highly successful three-year stint at Connors State College.
Henderson has helped UCO to 75 wins over the past five seasons. Central went 16-14 in 2015-16 during Henderson's first year with the program, then had a 17-12 record the following season before going 20-10 in 2017-18. The Bronchos went 11-17 in 2018-19 before going 11-18 in 2019-20. After spending three years as an assistant coach at Connors, Cameron came to UCO, with the Cowboys going 79-18 and qualifying for the junior college national tournament twice during that span. A three-time All-State performer at Hall High School in Little Rock, Ark., Henderson started his college career at Connors in 2007. He was a two-time All-Bi-State Conference and All-Region II selection for the Cowboys before signing Montana State. Henderson was a two-year letterman for the Bobcats and then stayed on as an assistant student coach. He returned to Connors as an assistant coach in 2012. The Cowboys went 24-9 in 2012-13, followed by a 23-7 campaign and conference championship in 2013-14, and then had a 32-2 record this past season while winning conference and regional titles. Connors made the national tournament in 2013 and '15, advancing to the Elite Eight this season.
Henderson recruited the 2014 and '15 Region II MVP award winners, and 11 players signed with a Division I schools during his tenure at Connors.
Henderson is married (Kiesha) and has two children (Jaylin and Mirasia).
