Has there been any talk of adding men’s soccer? (Sorry to put this on the women’s golf page.) If they did so they would need to add a women's sport for Title IX purposes, wouldn't they?

Adding another men's sport would put the "opportunity for women" (per Title IX) even more out of whack than it already is. More than likely, we would need to add another women's sport after women's golf before adding another men's sport.

A new locker room facility, etc. would be needed to accommodate MSOC. WSOC already shares a building with SB and Elmer Gray with TF/XC. I don't believe adding MSOC is on anyone's radar - but that all changes if and when the right person shows up with the right amount of money.

A challenge with men's soccer is also having enough schools who field a team in Texas to provide competition "on the cheap" (within easy driving distance. The only D-1 schools in TX that play collegiate soccer as HBU, UIW, SMU and UT-RGV. There are quite a few more D-2 schools (DBU, LCU, Midwestern St Edward's -- a good friend of mine at ACU had 2 sons play for St Ed's -- St Mary's, TAMU-I, UT-Tyler, UTPB, WTAM), but a schedule that was 60-70% D-2 would not look very pretty.

Part of our Title IX problem is that women’s opportunities should also reflect the their proportion of the student body. ACU is edging toward 60-40 women to men. So there won’t be any new men’s sports any time soon.

A quality and obvious choice.

A quality and obvious choice. Absolutely, Coach Bennett is the right guy for this job. Great to have him back on campus. Does anyone on the board know if Mason Banger will stay on as a men's assistant?

3rd signee announced today. Manon Guille from France. Sounds like a really good player. Coach Bennett seems to really be building an immediate contender.

Wow... what a line-up so far. Guille is very impressive on an international basis. The men's team may need to power up a bit because the lady's look very strong. I have waited so many years for ACU women's golf and now it is coming true and it looks like in a big way.
