All I will say is you will be shocked where some of the players mentioned end up. For example, the early prediction is Max Johnson ends up at North Carolina. The portal is just getting wound up. Next Monday is going to be crazy.
ACU is looking at anyone that they can. They are not, and imo so, not rushing to offer everyone that enters the portal. But they are showing interest in guys from big schools. Will any of it pan out? Time will tell

How absurd would it be to go after Big 12 QBs that are entering the portal? Blake Shapen, Malik Murphy, Max Johnson, Will Howard? We all saw the impact firsthand of what a guy like that can do for your offense when we played UIW. Not that they needed any extra help... I would say all of those players would be long shots, but it also seems like each of them outside of Murphy is going to have a hard time finding a starting job at Power 5 school... Maalik Murphy would definitely be a reach. He could win the starting job at most Power 5 schools, including Alabama, USC, LSU, and others.

Not sure he will come to ACU, though I know there is interest, but Utah Tech Freshman All-American WR Beau Sparks has entered the transfer portal

Stone Earle is back in the transfer portal. Hmmmmm..... I haven't kept up with how it went for Stone up in Denton at North Texas... Did he get much playing time? Might he or we have interest in him returning?

After starting a few games in 2022, this year Stone was an occasionally used backup -- playing in 4 of 12 games.

Hope that he can find a spot where he can get a lot of playing time. Would probably have been much better off staying at ACU. Does a player have to lay out for a year when they go into the portal (change schools) for a second time?

Is there interest in him from ACU. Yes.
Dallasalum that is a good question. Stone would be going into his 5th year of college; possibly a grad student. If that is the case, he can transfer anywhere to any school. I also think, because he did not transfer in back to back years, he is eligible to play anywhere. That being said, the NCAA does have a two-time transfer policy that is difficult to understand. For instance, there was a basketball player that started his career at Memphis. He played at Oklahoma St for 2 years, and then transferred to Ole Miss this past summer. The NCAA denied him from being eligible. Why? Who knows! However, 2 days ago, they determined he can now play.
I do not think Stone will be in that boat and should be eligible to play wherever he wants.

Stone would be an excellent back up if he will do that.

First of all, I don't think a senior (or grad transfer) goes to a place to be a backup. 2nd, if Stone (or anyone in his position) came to ACU I'd think it would be with the understanding that he would get an equal shot at starting. 3rd, if he were given an equal chance, I'd think he could very likely win the starting job. We need a spark at QB that Maverick has yet to provide. We will break in at least one and maybe two OL next year. Mobility at the QB position will be at a premium. I think QB will be the most important position we recruit this year--if not for now then for 2025. Maybe Hawkins is the answer but if he were, I'd think we would not be showing interest in the portal.

Stone was the surprise starter for UNT for the first 2 or 3 games this year. UNT did not start of the season well and I think many, unfairly in my opinion, blamed Stone. I don't think he should have ever left ACU but I'm sure he wanted to see what he could do at a larger school. Not sure he is the answer to our QB issue but we definitely need to bring someone in.
