Here is a simple thing to boost attendance- change the faculty ticket rules to a more family friendly structure- charge half price for faculty spouses and dependents. If the University of Georgia can do it, so can we. I was thinking of something along the lines of family ticket pricing, plus food trucks and/or other food options for a family eve out. Dinner and a game type of thing for the family with family events? As well as advertising to the community, you have to make the game friendly to the community exactly because they don't have a connection to ACU. SO you need other things to draw them in. That goes a bit further than I was thinking, but I like the idea of family ticket pricing for non-priority areas such as the club. And I love the idea of food trucks. Abilene had some good ones.

ACU already does much of what's been mentioned albeit most of it very generic, in particular the billboards, ad spots and social media ads. It all looks nice but there's no call to action. ACU must promote its individual football players and pair them into creative sponsorship opportunities. Sell the player and the local businesses simultaneously.
There's not an alcohol out there strong enough to wash away the bad taste of Saturday's first half. But if ACU does cross that bridge it'll have to multiply its security and personnel services tenfold. You'd also want a beer garden style area so those who are there to get intoxicated don't have to cross paths with the north end zone kids and families (until they get on the road of course, because there'll be no foresight to card or limit patrons on number of drinks).
Serving alcohol in the stadium's current lax atmosphere would be reckless. You'd need a step up in police presence and replace the volunteer purple/white crew with professional security and ushers - pay these people! I popped into Wildcat Stadium minutes before halftime and no one at the gate was interested in scanning my tickets or looking up from their phones. A complete joke!

I have thought about the alcohol subject several times as others have asked me about it. I am not so personally against it, but wonder how ready we are as others have mentioned. To me, that's why I was paring food and games for a family, along with family pricing. Create an atmosphere that a family who has no ties to ACU would still want to come because it's good food and entertainment for a good price besides the game. Community service and advertising are good, but we actually need to offer a little more to actually bring them in and give them cause to spread the word.

I am hoping that every police officer, fireman, first responder, airman at Dyess, etc. were offered free tickets to Saturdays game. Am I wrong?

Question for you football strategists.
At the end of the first half, PV was at our 50 yard line with 6 seconds left. We put four defensive backs on the goal line. The play went to their running back who broke through the line and took a knee at the 30 with 2 seconds and called timeout and they kicked a field goal. Were we out coached on that one? What’s your opinion?

Yes, they foxed us on that one. When I saw the four guys down on the goal line, I yelled "Oh No." I thought they would throw a 15 or 20 yard down and out to stop the clock and kick the FG.

All of those organizations were contacted and offered free tickets and I think an additional complimentary ticket. I think veterans also had that opportunity.

I visited with three firemen from the first Precinct. They seemed to be enjoying the game.
Also, this is a pretty classy coach...

If you really want fans to show up selling alcohol will help. I don't argue that selling alcohol might help. However, McLane Stadium at Baylor still does not sell alcohol and they have managed to get some pretty good crowds. Having a good product on the field is still the big draw, although savvy marketing can also help. For the past few years, ACU has had a FB head coach who steadfastly refused to speak to alumni groups in Abilene or outside of town during the last 2 years of his tenure. Keith Patterson has shown very encouraging signs of wanting to share the ACU football story with community groups, alumni groups, students, etc. during his first months at ACU. KP has seen up-close how fans can help a program financially if they feel they are part of the "team". I hope to see that community-mindedness continue. They don't sell it in the stadium, but all over campus there are parties and tents sponsored by beer companies and LOTS of alcohol available. I went to a pretty high profile Baylor vs TCU game a couple years back that was sold out. Great atmosphere but it was certainly alcohol fueled.

We could do something similar that allows alcohol sales by outside entities during pregame festivities outside the stadium. Then, just don't allow the alcohol in the stadium.

My personal opinion is selling alcohol at a collegiate football or basketball game would be unwise bordering on insane. Even my other school, Ohio State, does not do it and they make no pretense of being a Christian university, and they drink a lot in Columbus. If we have to sell alcohol for our games to be a draw, we have a big problem.

I am surprised that Prairie View is only an 11.5 pt underdog at home this week to Incarnate Word. Incarnate Word has upset two good teams in their first two weeks and is averaging 59.5 points/game.
I think Incarnate Word is going to beat Prairie View by four touchdowns or more.
