The games were gritty for sure. Good job to hang in and get the wins. The second game was 5-4 Wildcats

Variety of people came through after another disastrous start in the 1st inning of the 1st game. Boggan pitched 5 great innings in relief of Eichelberger in the 1st game. Glaze and Huffling pitched well in the 2nd game. I think we have a real player in Maddox Miesse. Walkoff grand slam in the 1st game and kept an inning alive with a hit in the 2nd game. Also caught and then played 3rd base. A pretty versatile player that every team needs. Randle and Tatrow had HRs in the 1st game.

Gotta confess, Baseball is my favorite sport and the games are so often a matter of being on a knife edge and having to do the unlikely, it is exciting to watch this year's team. I hope we keep it up -- I think we can with this group.

Very happy and proud of our baseball team this spring. Looks like we brought in some real talent. I'd feel better if Tatrow and Ladusau would start hitting but both have good track records. We need them. I guess since Aaron Staehely hasn't played yet that he's injured. Any news on how long he might be out? We've had some solid pitching so far, and I hope that Stephenson and Byrd get more chances to contribute. Morgan, Boggan, Anderson, Glaze and Huffling have started well. I'd really like for us to rise up that mid-major poll. A few more wins vs the power conferences ought to do that. Way to go, Cats!!

Another good win by the Cats. Superb pitching in relief by Adam Stephenson. I hope he will soon move into the starting rotation in the place of De La Cruz who had his 3rd straight bad start. The top of our batting order is really strong with Williams, Ladusau, Britt and Tweedt. Tatrow looks like he may be coming out of his slump, Randle continues to be solid and today Eric Martin had 2 doubles batting 7th. Love scoring in double figures. Hoping Eichleberger can have a good start.

Wildcats sweep the series with Houston Christian. I like our broadcasts much better now but one crazy thing... the lead play by play seems to call pitches away from the plate on the first base side "Outside" even if they almost hit a left-handed batter. To the third base side to a right handed batter (a ball well inside) he calls it "Outside." Baffling.
Tatrow's grand slam was a true blast well over center field. I think they said it was 421 feet and 117 mph off the bat.
Bogey is spot on when he says our coach leaves a pitcher in too long. Also, late in the game with a lead you do not play well off third base. We gave up an out and turned it into a single by playing well off the base.

A sweep but some very bad calls against HCU. McCarty is going to get in real trouble if he continues to leave struggling pitchers in too long like he did today with Smith in the 1st game and Anderson in the 2nd game. Tatrow with an outstanding hitting day ending with a grand slam. ACU wins 9-5. Now 10-2 on the season.

Any thoughts on pitchers being left in games too long?

How did we lose to HCU? They score 4 in the last inning??? What gives?

Boggan simply wasn't sharp after being stellar his first 4 appearances. He got the first out, then a hit to the right field gap (nice cut off by RF to keep it a single), then a walk, then a wild pitch, then a 3-run HR. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see coach or the catcher once make a mound visit to Boggan to help slow things down.
Both HRs Boggan allowed were wind-aided and just out of Tatrow's reach.
When I watched ACU vs. Nevada I thought Huffling was the go-to 9th inning closer ("Enter Sandman") but recently he's been a middle-innings eater. He pitched 3 shutout innings today

A walk and wild pitch following... hmmm. Unless you are an All-Star teamer, that's a pitching change, or it was in my day.
