PLEASE tell me that this isn't the official UAC logo. Please tell me that this is just something that ESPN put out there because the UAC didn't give them a logo to go with.

View AttachmentI wouldn't be shocked if that was the logo since a chunk of teams in the conference are from Texas The colors aren't necessarily the issue. It's like they put zero thought into it whatsoever. It has ZERO originality. It doesn't say sports. It doesn't say football. It doesn't really even look like it belongs with a university. Does United automatically get associated with the USA? What about the unitedness of teams with long histories and united conferences? It's like they asked their 2-year-old to come up with something because they were running out of time and didn't have any money to actually come up with something better... I agree, it does look like something you would see in Texas, but given the conference is so much more, even more reason to do something with more thought. I mean, are we just going to copy Conference USA if we can't join them?

I wonder if the original United Conference logo was super close to what Conference USA's Logo was and they had to go with Plan B to avoid a lawsuit?

Yup, that is the UAC logo which was revealed today at Media Day. Wish I had time to watch our session and don't know why we never advertised our own part in this. We usually have in the past. I'll have to go back and try to catch it on YouTube. I'm still disappointed in the logo and think it just shows a continued lack of planning behind this whole thing, but there are more important things in life... We just need to focus on our playing.

Personally, I don't think the logo is that bad. Yes it looks like it could represent United Supermarkets but I've seen worse.
Session didn't reveal anything new but it was nice to hear Egbo and Reeves both talk about the respect they have for Coach Patterson and to hear Patterson talk about how much McIvor has improved.

FWIW... I heard Todd Whitten, Tarleton HC, speak to a civic group in Stephenville on Wednesday. He opened it up to questions and I asked, "Do you believe the scuttlebutt around the UAC becoming an FBS conference in the future is legitimate or is it just talk?" He responded, "I think its just talk." He referenced how the two Utah schools would never want that. He also referenced the NCAA's proposed fee change from $5000 to $5,000,000" as well as a basis. He thinks several schools may shoot for the Conference USA. I know Tarleton is hoping for an invite to the CUSA. It's part of the reason they added additional seating to the North end zone of their stadium.

This article finally answers my question on the expired moratorium. I had been wondering when a new decision would be made. Right now, it looks to be a long way off. The author misquotes Luck in saying FBS is the focus and not FCS. Right now, Luck is indeed only talking FCS. His open wording is always subject to question though. I agree with him that the cross scheduling, at this point, is one of the greatest strengths of the official alliance. I am not sure what the NCAA gets by denying the recognition as it only continues to complicate things and create ambiguity. As of now, the UAC won't be an actual conference for at least 2 seasons. "The NCAA later denied the UAC’s waiver request to be recognized as a single-sport FCS conference this year, due to a moratorium on such activity, and it’s since been extended to Jan. 1, 2025. Undaunted, the UAC still moved forward with the new name and the plan to continue to pursue official NCAA status." theanalyst.com/na/2023/07/new-united-athletic-conference-eyeing-growth-both-on-off-the-field/

I caught the opening remarks and questions, the SUU's session. Then I switched to the afternoon session and watched us. Today I hope to finish the rest of it.

Well, the FCS Nation Preseason top 25 is out. Two big things initially stick out to me: 1) The UAC only has ONE team in it and that is EKU down at #21, and 2) UIW is coming in at #8, whom we face in game two. I like our schedule, but one issue is we don't play but one team on this list. I know the main thing is win our games and the rest will sort itself out.
