From Texas Football -
Massey projects 6-5 overall and 4-2 in UAC.
DCTF says: I can’t argue with this projection. Massey has ACU with wins against Northern Colorado, Prairie View A&M, North Alabama, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, and Tarleton, with losses at home to UIW and on the road against Central Arkansas, SFA, North Texas, and Texas A&M. I love what Keith Patterson is doing in Abilene. Still, six wins would be an outstanding season for the Wildcats.

I can see us going anywhere between 6-5 and 9-2. Now that we've lost our backup QB, I don't feel as confident about the higher record. If McIvor gets hurt, we may be back at square one trying to piece together an offense/passing game. With McIvor healthy, I think we beat both Central Ark and SFA. I just don't know about our QB situation. Maybe Baker or Highhouse will emerge. Hut Graham looks like a capable runner but passing needs improvement. We could have a very potent running game and we have a great receiving corps but someone has to get them the ball. Our defense will be improved despite our weakness at DE and not knowing exactly our strength at DT. Just mid-June ramblings from a fan with lots of time and very little knowledge. Would 6-5 be a step backwards? Maybe not, but it certainly wouldn't be "an outstanding season" as DCTF says.

The information about the offense liking the new formations and plays leads me to think more to the high side. If the D comes through, this might be a signal season -- let's all hope.

I will not be disappointed with a 6-5 season. I lean a little toward the 'Cats going 7-4, with three of the losses being out-of-conference games -- TAMU, UNT, and UIW. We run the table in conference and we end up 8-3 -- I will be thrilled and that might well put us in the playoffs.

8-3 would clearly be a huge stepping stone for future recruiting and a celebration for the hiring of coach Patterson. 7-4 would be a fine season as well. It is a nice time to dream a little and have soaring hopes.
