I am sort of falling back from my earlier rooting for the Rangers. How could they lose three in a row to the lowly Brewers? I used to be a fan in the Nolan Ryan days, then as the Rangers fell into the doldrums I lost interest but this year I thought they were poised to really make a run. I guess that could still happen, but these last three games have been terrible.

It's a long season and hard to be up for every series. Every team can beat any other team given the right set of circumstances. The Astros seem to be hitting a wall too. Even the Braves lost one today. Don't panic.

Wise observations Bogey. I know how baseball ebbs and flows but watching three straight games where the Rangers were so flat was disappointing. The situation was one where a Ranger sweep would pretty well put them in a firm driver's seat in the AL West. They just looked flat and you could feel their lack of enthuasism. Our supposed great pitching staff was giving up huge numbers of runs to probably the worst hitting team in baseball. At the plate, the Rangers just did not look the same and the strike outs were a huge problem. I still want the Rangers to win it out and hopefully get all the way to the World Series but it is time for Botch to get them focused. Admittedly, Cory Seager is having a memorable season for this modern era.

on August 21, the Mariners have risen out of the pack and are only 3 games back of the Rangers, while the Astros are 2&1/2 back.

I am astonished. My pony league coach would not put the winning run on with a free pass when we were up 2 runs going into the bottom of the 11th. The Rangers gave a free pass to the run that beat them. Lead over Astros now 1&1/2 games. Wow.

Go Stros!!!!! Will be interesting to watch the Rangers and Mariners close out the season slugging away at each other. 7 of the Rangers last 10 games are against the Mariners. First 3 at home and last 4 away. As an Astros fan, this is great. I get to watch these two teams to add seven losses to their totals between them. Seattle really got screwed though as they close their last 10 games against Texas and Houston. I guess even if they are several games back going into the last 2 weeks, they may still control their own fate. Sweep these 10 games and you can make up a ton of ground in the West real quick.

I am both a Ranger and an Astros fan, so either one but somehow not the Mariners.

8 in a row and in the tank. Please wake up Rangers. What happened to that "strong" pitching staff? Losing our third baseman turns out to be a disaster.
I may have to put my Astros hat back on but they are losing as well.

I fear my Rangers are done for, not eliminated but showing no ability to compete late in games. So it is time to root for the Astros. In the first two of a three game series at Globe Life Field the Astros have scored 27 runs and the Rangers only 7. Pretty much a pitiful showing.

It is hard to imagine a more dominant performance than what the Stros put on in Arlington.
