There has been an NCAA moratorium on new conferences but I think it ends this year. The UAC requested a waiver but it was denied.

Massey early rankings has ACU up to #21, over #27 Central Arkansas, #28 SFA, #29 Tarleton St., #31 Austin Peay, and #39 Eastern Kentucky.
This might bode well for ACU to make the FCS top 25 this week.
UIW is at #14. If ACU can beat UIC the sky is the limit.

Nice to see but I'm still not convinced we deserve to be ranked higher than those teams. Last night was a weird game. UIW will be our first true test. We'll see if we live up to our ranking.

Agree, the recognition is nice but so far we have only won the games we were already forecasted to. When we win the games we aren't, then I'll feel better. Several other UAC teams have been playing very well. Not just us.

#21 ACU #27 Central Arkansas #28 SFA #29 Tarleton St #31 Austin Peay #39 Eastern Kentucy #43 Southern Utah #63 North Alabama #80 Utah Tech
These ratings are significantly higher than last season as a conference. What bothers me is that Prairie View outgained ACU 535 yds to 393 yds. The turnovers kept the game one-sided in ACU's favor.

Total yards gained are a meaningless statistic when the score is 45-7 to begin the 4th. When a team is up big, the defensive philosophy changes.

Total yards gained are a meaningless statistic when the score is 45-7 to begin the 4th. When a team is up big, the defensive philosophy changes. For instance, PVAMU had 206 of their 535 yards in its last four drives that started with just over two minutes left in the third quarter, when the Wildcats were up 45-7, and no doubt played differently, both on offense and defense. The Wildcats ran just 18 offensive plays in the second half, and 11 of them were rushes. The defense was on the field for a long time in the half. The Wildcats held the ball for just 9:36 of the 30 minutes in the second half. As has been said, just a weird game with INTs and Fumbles and onside kicks, etc. Let's enjoy the win and move on to focusing on UIW! Go Wildcats!

Let's enjoy the win and move on to focusing on UIW! Go Wildcats! Tex48, thanks for the great, deep dive into the numbers. Your post is absolutely on point. I would like to have seen the Cats D get off the field a little more, stop the run, win on 3rd down, and not give up longer pass plays (at least 4 in this game). On the positive side, Elijah Moffett drilled a few guys that made excellent catches in small windows. The Cats dropped some great plays in special teams, including multiple 50-yard punts. This made the Panthers work the ball down the field. And the Panthers showed a tendency to self-destruct. Credit also goes to the Cats's offense and McIvor for putting the ball up and challenging their DBs. Only one of those long TD throws was a blown coverage. All the rest were receivers going up and making plays on well-thrown passes. It took about a quarter, but PV finally did back their safeties up because their corners kept getting torched. I was a little surprised that we couldn't win more on the ground, but I think the defensive LOS is PV's strength. This was a solid win for ACU, and when the pundits look back, it will get even better. PV is going to win quite a few games this season (though SMU is up next for them).

We just need to beat UIW. That's all that matters at this point in the season. Will be a real test for our D and OL.

The STATS Analyst FCS poll has us just outside the top 25, receiving 51 votes. That about doubles the vote total we had last week. To break through, we have to play well against UIW.
