This is the season where ACU becomes a Big Boy. The schedule looks really loaded with strong opponents.

Run ruled Northern Illinois in first game. No live stats and no box score yet. Can't find any media report about the 2nd game so went to ACUsports to see how the softball team is doing. Again no live stats, doesn't even have our name on the schedule. Not sure what's going on.

Game two, another run rule 12-2. Early season hitting is good. Two good starts by Glaze and Campa. I was surprised in game one at how many pitches got by or were bobbled by Miese. But his hitting seemed to be OK. Maybe the Matlon kid will win that job. Will be interesting to see who our game 3 and 4 pitchers will be.

It was cold and windy but boy did the team play well. Baseball looks solid so far. Lots of new faces that look quite good. Confession: I watched game one on TV before an obligation later. I worry about tomorrow because it could cause some sore arms in the cold.

Loved that we put some bunts down. Staeley is going to be a welcome addition to the lineup after missing last year.

Win #3 for the guys 10-4. Freshman pitcher starts and goes 4 innings giving up 1 run. Wondering if we'll see freshman OJ Gonzales pitch tomorrow.

Men getting pounded 13-1 in the 4th. Gotta get rolling to keep from getting run ruled.

That's a big N-O, Bogey. Only OSU radio. My guess is it's too expensive for either program to stream events at a neutral site, especially one 150+ miles away. okla.st/GetVarsity

Just got home from South Carolina state championship semifinals for both girls and boys basketball and saw that we win with a 9th inning walkoff home run by Van Atten. This could be a pretty good yesr if we continue the good pitching and timely hitting. Way to go guys.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the Cats so far this year. We lost major firepower in Tatrow, Britt and Tweedt but seem to have replaced some of that with Van Atten and D'Alessio. The top of our order with Williams, Ladusau, Van Atten and D'Alessio is potent. We certainly need Miesse and Staehely to hit. Eric Martin could be a real help with his hitting. Payne, McGarrh and Borho seem to be solid. I'm surprised we haven't seen Blake Anderson yet (may be injured) but our pitching looks to have reloaded. Campa has impressed, Glaze is solid and we have some freshmen that can be productive like Gonzalez and Lanman. This could be much more than a rebuilding year.

I have hoped so and think we just might not have to wait a year to be really tough. Pitching is still a bit unanswered for me, but Pitchers are always a little off and on. The new hitters are impressive. We have started bunting at the right time as well. So I think this year will at least be exciting and we will have a winning record. We have a fine coach.

Good win tonight 6-4 over Baylor. I like what I'm seeing with McGarrh in relief.
