Since there isn't a lot of sport talk right now, I thought I would relay a conversation I had with a young member of my church. 20-30 years ago, we had large youth groups with many choosing to go to ACU. In more recent years, the size of the youth group has shrunk noticeably and we would only have one go to ACU every few years. Last week I was texting with one of your seniors and asked him if the youth minister had convinced him to apply to ACU. I had no idea what his plans were but thought I would at least ask. He replied that he had applied and had been accepted. When I told him that I hoped he would seriously consider attending ACU, his reply made my day. He said he planned to go to ACU because he had seen what a difference the university had made in the lives of so many at our church and he wanted to experience that first hand. Neither of his parents attended college and I was thrilled that he could see from a distance what an impact attending ACU can have.
I always told students that ACU is not right for everyone but for some it is the perfect fit. I hope that ends up being true for this student.

A very nice story and accurate for so many. ACU is different in many ways, but one thing is generally true. That thing is the solid character of her graduates. Sure, not all achieve this distinction, but the odds are so much better at ACU. I heard this over and over in the business world. ACU grads were just different.

I have formed a friendship with the Daugherty family (Emma and Molly are basketball recruits for 2025). The family has no connection to ACU but one thing has come up several times in our conversations--ACU just felt different. Kudos to the basketball coaching staff and others on campus last summer when the family came to visit, for making a positive impression on these young ladies.
