The ladies won their 1st round match vs Seattle yesterday to advance to the conference semifinals. They play GCU at noon today. GCU beat us last month 7-0 and it was a really bad loss. We did not win a single set from them so today's match will be quite a challenge.

Ladies played better vs GCU than they did earlier in the year taking 2 sets but ultimately the ending was the same-a 4-0 loss.

Anyone know why the ACU Gives goal for Men's Tennis is 60,000 and Women's is 7,500? Seems like they should be roughly the same.

Anyone know why the ACU Gives goal for Men's Tennis is 60,000 and Women's is 7,500? Seems like they should be roughly the same. Bucfan, that is a great question. The ACU Gives goals are not set by NEED exclusively -- it that were true the goals would by necessity much larger. The most crucial factor is about finding a lead donor or donors to lead the way. For example, if men's tennis had a donor or a small group of donors (former tennis lettermen, for instance) who might say they pledge to give $25,000 or $30,000 to ACU Gives for men's tennis, then the goal amount might be set at 2 times the pledged amount (and possibly a bit more, if momentum begins to grow for that particular ACU Gives entity). But, if there is only a donor or donor group willing to pledge $2,500 to $3,500 to a ACU Gives entity, then the goal amount will be smaller. Then, the Alumni Office will look at historic giving to a particular entity and that goal amount might be adjusted up a bit. I personally know a donor who has pledged $2,500 to each of ACU Men's and Women's XC and the goal amount on the ACU Gives page is exactly double that amount for each. That same donor has pledged $3,500 each to men's and women's T&F, but the goal amounts for those 2 sports on ACU Gives are different - men's T&F is $9,000 and women's T&F is $15,000. There are probably some additional donors who stepped up in support of the women's program that did not do so for the men's program. I hope this makes sense, Bucfan.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes perfect sense.
