Thought this one might happen. Former Midland Christian HS star Joseph Venzant commits. 6'3 guard that is a tough defender. Averaged 5.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game at Liberty. Shot nearly 59% from the floor, though not a huge 3pt shooter. He was 1st team all-defense for Conference USA. Has 1 year to play x.com/tobias_bass/status/1782883579095040315

Ok we've picked up a 6'3" guard who plays defense and a 6'5" guard who has a nose for the ball. Add our two 6'5" freshmen and we're making a really good start to rebuild our roster. Still think we need a big man or two. Go Cats.

Q. Williams has a real chance to be all-conference.
Here are some of his highlights while at Okla St

From Jonesboro, AR. Gotta wonder if Airion had anything to do with this.

With at least 4 spots still open, here is what I think the staff is looking for.
A PG that can compete with DeGruy
A guard that can shoot from the outside. Q. Williams and Venzant are more slashers that attack the rim. They can shoot the 3, but that is not the main part of their game.
A forward that can stretch the floor, but also be physical inside. Look for that player to be between 6'6 and 6'8 in height
A big man that can play behind Bettiol, but is somewhere between 6'9 and 7'0.

Mentioned this guy to Jamin this morning. Connor St JUCO Forward Bradyn Hubbard commits. Hubbard averaged 24.9 points and 10.6 rebounds this year. He shot 55% from the floor and 83% from the line. JUCO stats are kind of interesting. It can sometimes be like AAU ball. The hope is that he can average at least half as many points here as he did there. He was on a team that was 34-3. He was a 1st team JUCO All-American x.com/BradynHubbard/status/1784708168452358555

Another 6'6" player. This fits coach Tanner's ideal of length on defense. 24 pts per game is impressive even at JC level. Double figures would be good. How many years does he have to play, 2 or 3?

I have had high hopes of really accomplished JC players that came here before.

I am in no way saying Hubbard will be all-conference. However, I do think he has talent and so does jucorecruiting.com, which has him ranked as the #34 JUCO recruit in the nation.
Tanner/Golding have had some misses with JUCO players, but guys like Makhi Morris, Coryon Mason and Reggie Miller Jr were huge hits. What most people do not realize is Mason and Miller were not big time scorers at the JUCO level, but they were winners.
Same for Hubbard who is 90-9 in his last 3 years of basketball.
I told this to Jamin; I believe the staff wants to play with a 4 out 1 in lineup. They did some of that last year, but we only had 1 player that could attacke the rim (Dibba). We also only had 1 consistent outside shooter in Hunter Jack Madden. Both Q. Williams and Hubbard can attack the rim off the dribble. Still need another outside shooter.

Bettiol is our big next year. Yes, at 6'8, he is a bit undersized. But he has great footwork and quickness on the low block. His struggle is more with rebounding the ball. That is something he MUST get better at next year.
When he came here, he was very raw; hence why he redshirted his first year. He has gotten remarkably better the past 2 seasons. Sometimes with big men, it just takes time and patience and a lot of repetition.
Yes this team needs at least 1 more big. But, if we have guards that can shoot from the outside and get to the rim, this will truly open things up for Bettiol in the post.
