I think ACU will win but not overly confident they will beat the spread, hard to say at this point being that UWG won last week. They are by far the most mysterious team in the conference right now. SUU at UTEP looks very interesting as well. I just hope we beat HCU at this point, I am not at all convinced we will even win, hope I am wrong.

Agree that UWG is a bit of a mystery at this point. We win, but my question will be our discipline. Do we have a letdown game? Does our corner game improve? Yes, last week was against Big 12 talent. I need to see our consistency this year and our ability to stop teams from scoring or hold teams to low scores. What worries me about our new offense is not allowing the defense enough time to rest and not keeping the ball out of the opponent's hands. If we do make it to the playoffs, we won't win with our offense. We know that from experience. Remember Chadron State. I do want to see us be able to disrupt the QB play, get sacks and turnovers.

I believe you touched on this, Outsider… this is the big challenge this week…to avoid an “overconfident” letdown. In the past, this has been an issue. This will be a big indication if this team has truly turned the corner, imo. Looking forward to it.

Our new offense had 6 drives of over 3 minutes of game time and 4 of those drives were 4 minutes or longer, which is typical of this kind of offense and is adequate time for our defense to rest. We played lots of players with little to -0- fall off. Our depth is better than it has ever been ( of course injuries could change that). I have no worries about our team not getting rest. The question to me is, can our offense continue to consistently produce these kinds of results? Our defense has to improve but we were going up against a good FBS offense with some tremendous skill players. We will not see that kind of offensive firepower very often. I agree with outsider that we need to get pressure on the QB, but I believe that will come.

The drive that tied the game started at the Tech 4 and used just under 5 minutes.

It's been a long, long time since I was even tempted to predict the score of a game but for this week I'll bite. ACU 55-21. If we put 51 on TT we ought to be able to score as many vs West Georgia. I'll stay on this train until proven it's the wrong one to be on. To me, this is a statement game before tackling the meat of our schedule.

Agree that this is a statement game. Is the team serious about staying on track and staying focused.

I agree that West Georgia is a mystery since they are joining the UAC this season. However, the Wildcats should be prepared to beat them.

UAC Schedule Week 2 (Odds based on Massey Ratings)
Utah Tech at UNLV (+32.5) - UNLV amassed 504 yards rushing against the Trailblazers. 14-72. Southern Utah at UTEP (+7.5) The Thunderbirds flexed their muscles on the road against UTAP (University of Texas Austin Peay) and picked up the win 27-24. Eastern KY at Western KY (+18.5) Perhaps EKU would have been better off if they just let WKU wear their white jerseys. 0-37. UCA AT Lindenwood (-20.5) Nice road win after last week's review debacle. 34-13. West Georgia at ACU (-17.5) Wildcats managed to regroup after cliff hanger in Lubbock followed by bush crash. 38-24 Tarleton at Houston Christian (-10.5) QB out with injury? No problem, give the ball to Kayvon. 34-18 Southern Illinois at Austin Peay (+6.5) Governors play pretty okay against the 12th ranked Redbirds but lose 17-31 Illinois St at North Alabama (+13.5) Stanford transfer Ari Patu throws for 328 against #20 Salukis but Lions narrowly lose 17-24
FBS game of interest:
Texas at Michigan (-6.5) Not as close as the score, IMHO. 31-14

I have changed my prediction to a ho-hum game where ACU only wins 38-24. McIvor will pass for something right around 300 yards but ACU will suffer fumble-syndrome and a slow start. Once again Martinez will play a fine game. I am thinking we did this game so the game film would confuse Idaho. I think we might try to hide Taylor so Idaho won't know what a fine receiver he is. What do you think Cap'n, did I get it about right? Seems like I am getting better at this stuff.
