UAC games for Saturday 10/5. Ratings and Spreads Courtesy of MasseyRatings.com UAC teams in bold type.
#52 Austin Peay (-14.5) at #93 West Georgia #12 UCA (-3.5) at #25 ACU #99 Utah Tech at #76 North Alabama (-6.5) #23 Tarleton State at #28 Southern Utah (-4.5) #34 Eastern KY Open
Week Six marks the beginning of conference play in earnest as the teams get serious about the race for the automatic bid into the playoffs and a probable at-large bid. At least one prognosticator has Southern Utah winning the conference. There are five teams seemingly positioned to make a run for the two spots and four of them play another top team so there may be some separation beginning this week.
My choices to win: Austin Peay, ACU, North Alabama, Southern Utah. My choices to win against the spread: Austin Peay, ACU, North Alabama, Southern Utah.
So what does everybody think?

Even at home, I have a hard time picking ACU to win. A good offensive team can too easily pick apart our secondary. Hoping I'm proved wrong.

i am excited to pick ACU in this game. One can see improvements and changes as the season goes on and some real stars emerging. These Cats are a good team.

Note that Tech is now 4-1. They have now beaten NTSU, Arizona State, and Cincinnati by greater margins than us. Only loss was to Washington State. Our team is no fluke! They just need to hit UCA early and hard!

As well as UCA runs the ball, this will be an SEC-type line of scrimmage game. Anticipate ACU’s defensive and offensive fronts to, individually and collectively, play their best games to date. Who’s ready for some slobber-knocker, two chin strap football!?!

The APSU pick is interesting because you don’t know if West GA is going to be the team that hosted Samford (W) or North AL (L). That said, the spread is good room for error.

Who’s ready for some slobber-knocker, two chin strap football!?! Speaking of slobber knocking football, my sister in law’s uncle played football for ACC in the late 50’s. (He also was an original member of the Cowboys.) He told me that he had a friend on an opposing team who told him this: “You guys from ACC come riding into town on your bus singing church songs, get off the bus and proceed to bite, scratch, kick while on your way to beating the snot out of the opposing team and then climb back on your bus and leave town singing more church songs.”

I think they will try to throw the ball early.
