Finally!! After 8 tough weeks of football, the Wildcats get a well deserved bye week. Do they ever need it.
The race to the auto qualifier into the playoffs really explodes after this week. Going into Saturday, there was one undefeated team (Tarleton) and four one-loss teams (ACU, EKU, UCA, SUU) with playoff possibilities. EKU was eliminated and we go into next week with three one-loss teams. Based on the matchups, there probably won’t be any movement:
#33 SUU (-12.5) @ #82 UWG I don’t think the Wolves can slow down Lambson and company. SUU giving the points.
#111 UTU @ #49 EKU (-17.5) I’ll take EKU giving the points.
#15 TSU (-1.5) @ #42 APU Can’t really see TSU losing this one although not an easy game.
#55 NAU @ #19 UCA (-14.5) UCA giving the points at home.
Road to the playoffs (assumes no upsets):
ACU - Auto bid if we win the next 3, SUU; @ AP; @ Tarleton; At large if we beat SUU or Tarleton and UCA loses another game. Might also have to beat SFA.
SUU - Auto bid only if Tarleton loses 2 and they win at ACU and at UCA; At large if they win the next 4.
UCA - Auto bid if they beat SUU and Tarleton and ACU loses a game
TSU - Auto bid if they beat ACU and UCA at home. At large bid if they lose one of these.
I think the UAC (ASUN) deserves 2 teams but we’ll see how it all falls out. Take a look at these giant games the next 5 weeks:
SUU at ACU
SUU at UCA
ACU at Tarleton
UCA at Tarleton
