Most of us follow our favorite FBS(Division 1A) team in addition to our loyalty to the Cats. Seems only fitting to start a thread where we can discuss "the big boys" as well as ACU and the Southland Conference.
This week's headline games: Notre Dame v Michigan and South Carolina v Georgia.
ND and Michigan are ending their annual contest, so this game will be historic.
South Carolina's Clowney is arguably best player in college football, although he is smarting after criticism that he looked fat and out of shape in USCe's victory opening victory over UNC. Georgia is trying to bounce back after a heart breaking loss to Clemson. Another loss will ruin any hope of making a run at the national championship.
And then there's the whole FCS-BCS discussion, fueled by FCS teams winning 8 games last weekend against FBS foes. Notable wins include: McNeese whooped up on South Florida. North Dakota State put on a memorable sustained drive to eek out a win over defending B12 Champ Kansas State. And Eastern Washington beat 25th ranked Oregon State.
This week's FCS-FBS headliners around the Southland Conference--Stephen F Austin takes on Texas Tech, Central Arkansas plays Colorado, Southeastern La plays TCU and defending SLC champ Sam Houston squares off against Johnny Manziel and the Texas Aggies.
Southeastern LA has a proven QB, a transfer from Oregon who saw playing time for the Ducks. TCU tried two QB's last week and neither looked particularly good, but TCU is still the odds on favorite in this game. SFA and Central Arkansas seem more likely to pull an upset, but it would be oh so sweet to watch the Ags go down to Sam.
Any thoughts on these or other FBS games this weekend?
