Cristian Williams:
Stay.Humble#⃣1⃣ @_504cityboy · 9h 9 hours ago ACU offered #GoWildcats
"literally one of the best talks I had in a while" followed by "blessing"
Still listed as a SMU commit, but we clearly made and impression and gave him something to think about. I am guessing our staff talked to him about more than x's and o's. Good job, coaches.

If Kendall Jennings really changes his commitment from Nevada to the Cats, then our recruiting class is getting to be pretty special. Would really like to see Massenburg commit.

Here is my count so far (per twitter and announced enrolled students):
Signed NLI:
Hafoka Olie - DT Dewan Edmonson - DL? Tryce Prince - LB/DB
Committed:
JR Hall - DB Junior Henderson - DB Michael Eke - Safety David Racine - WR Dakota Laws - OL
We have received commits from guys with FBS offers from Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, UNT, and are fighting for commits with schools such as SMU, Tulsa, Houston, ULL, Texas St.
I don't mention this to say that getting recruits with FBS offers is all that matters...we all know players aren't made by the number of stars by their name, I mention this because I think it's awesome that guys with offers from bigger schools and more well known schools with more money to spend on student athletes are choosing ACU to pursue their education and further their athletic careers.

Guys that have been here, but yet to make a decision:
WR- KJ Osborn WR- Kalin Sadler RB/LB Lamarquis Jefferson C Brayden Talbert TE Hunter Griffith LB Quincy Dunn S Darrance James S Cristian Williams- SMU Commit and seemed to re-affirm his commitment there S Davon Jernigan- seems to have connected with JR Hall and Junior Henderson. Hall told him let's make this DBU (Defensive back university)!

I'm not sure if Marcus Long even played this year, looks like he had an injury and had surgery in the summer. His HUDL tape is from his junior year. If he is in fact coming to ACU then that would be two DBs coming off injury with limited to no playing time their senior year, Michael Eke was also injured.
Secondary is like last year's LB class:
Junior Henderson JR Hall Michael Eke Marcus Long Tryce Prince
Davon Jernigan? Cristian Williams? David Richardson? Darrance James?
Will be interesting to see who plays what position.

Looks like our biggest remaining need is at wr Thanks to you and others for updates. I am traveling with limited access to internet.

I don't think they offered Sadler. I know their dealing with limited schollies, but I would say he goes to UNI or New Mexico.

I think Long and Eke will both be candidates for weight gain and a move to OLB. I would think though that between the two of them and Tryce Prince they will get reps at multiple positions, kind of like Lynn Grady/Bryson Gates.
Henderson and Hall both played some safety in high school but neither are really big guys and may switch between CB and safety.
We have a lot of young DL so I'm not surprised we would be done there.
Interesting with Sadler...I wonder if they are waiting to hear from other players (KJ Osborn for example).

We were looking for CB's and Safeties who could play. Looks like the coaches saw that as a huge need too. Now if we can turn these youngsters into hitters like Angel Lopez and Lynn Grady and Justin Stewart we'll have something. Looks like a speed upgrade. Would like to see a couple more recruited--like Cristian Williams.

dbs currently on roster:
Epps? Ausborne Barnett Bryant Baker Mack Arnold Johnson Parker Corner Gwin
Other than Ausborne, can the coaches piece together a defensive backfield from these guys?...especially if Epps plays slot receiver. I like Baker, Mack, and Arnold but not sure about the others. They are bigger and could be more physical ... except for Angel, of course. Eke looks like a safety at 6'2"Long and Prince have the measurables (and Prince is a 4.0 student). So if we also get Jernigan and Williams, we should be set for a while. But this coming year could be a mess..

Here is how the DB's look to me:
-CB - returning starters Keith Barnett and Terry Ausborne. Jonathan Epps also returns, but it is anyone's guess if he will be playing more CB or receiver. Backup Quinton Baker played in 8 games, including 2 starts, but he was injured and did not play the last 2 games. Backup Quantence Walker played in 9 games, lots of time on special teams, but some at corner as well. Jamar Mack redshirted and we know little about him. Hopefully, he can be a quality backup this coming year. Walkon D.J. Johnson did play in 2 games. Walkons Demarco Corner and Zar'Rian Parker did not play a down. If Mack turns out to be a player, we could be 4-5 deep at corner, with Epps a wild card
-Safeties - of course, we lost both starters to graduation. D.J. Arnold played every game and started one game this year - he was ACU's leading tackler in that game. True freshman Damian Howard played in every game. Quentin Bryant played in the first 10 games and missed the last 2 due to injury. The only backup at safety is Reese Gwin, who has been on campus for 2 years, but did not play a down in 2014. The depth is obviously a huge problem at safety, although I think Arnold, Howard and Bryant have proven to be quality players. The wild card here could be either Lynn Grady (who has started at safety for ACU in the past) and Bryson Gates, who could potentially play safety. That would be entirely dependent on some of the OLB prospects stepping up in a big way - someone like Myles Solsberry or Gavin Burford.
The numbers at safety are particularly worrisome to me. I would imagine ACU coaches will be trolling the region for potential transfers at DB. Don't forget, ACU found Jonathan Epps literally the week prior to 2-a-days. And, ACU was in play to get Eric Amaoko when he transferred from Oregon and ended up starting at corner this past season for Houston Baptist. I would love to see ACU find a jewel or two in the defensive backfield before the start of 2-a-days.
