I just went on the national letter organization website -- nationalletter.org -- to double check some of the signing dates. It is important to remember that the signing periods are still underway or soon to "re-open" for ACU Sports:
- Football - what people obviously note is the opening date of the football signing period (Feb 4), but I sometimes forget that the signing period for football remains open until April 1 - the important announcement noted on 2 other threads may be a recap of some of the kids who signed after the initial signing class was announced. Of course, once the window closed for football last week, you can still offer a schollie to a kid, but he will not be "protected" by the national letter until he enrolls
- Men's and women's Basketball - the initial window was November 12-19 and we all know that ACU did very well in getting some top HS talent, both men and women. The 2nd window opens next week - April 15 and people can be signed until May 20. Here is obviously where ACU may hope to fill another gap or two for both genders.
- Soccer is still in its initial signing period - it opened on Feb 4 and does not Aug 4, but I don't know that Coach Wilson has any other schollies to offer
- Track, golf, tennis, baseball - all shared the early signing period with basketball -- Nov 12-19. All of these sports have a 2nd signing window that starts April 15 and goes all the way to Aug 1. Particularly track signs a lot of athletes in this later period - usually athletes hoping to make the state track meet or the JC nationals and hopefully, improve their stock as a prospect. I don't know that either golf or tennis will have a lot more schollies to offer, but there could still be 1-2 late signees in those sports. Seems like Coach Bonneau has already stocked up a lot in baseball, but I would be surprised if he still doesn't pick up some players during this window as well.
