I am thrilled to see Slayde get a chance to play at ACU - a third generation Wildcat football player. Having seen him in HS, I think he can be a contributor at ACU. I would love to see Coy McMillon at ACU as well in another year. He can play ball and has long ACU ties - not only his father playing ball at ACU, but his grandparents are ACU grads. I would love to see Coy's cousin - Molly Phillips - playing volleyball for ACU some day (her Father played football at ACU). She is a 6-3 outside hitter who is a HS FRESHMAN who already has schools following her at every club team tourney in the southwest.

I like. Go get 'em coaches. Can't wait for tomorrow. One of the things you guys in Abilene might keep an ear out for is how our injured from last year are doing thru the course of the spring. Valladolid is one we've not heard much about this year. I hear Mayfield is good to go but Whitley will be held out of spring practices. Some had concussion issues--how are they? Who else was a contributor but was injured last year that could really help us this fall?

Valladolid is a good example of a walk on who put himself in a position to play in spring before injuries sidelined him. I, too, would like to know if he is good to go.

I am good friends with Jake's grandad. ACU for sure contacted Jake but Mac Brown got a really early commit and Jake really wasn't interested after that. For what it's worth, he loves UT and will likely see he field quiet a bit this year. There is no point in the coaches pursuing a red herring. My experience is that if I give them a name, they check him out. Often they just don't have an interest. Remember, we can tell the coaches about someone, but they cannot talk to us about them during recruiting so they just say nothing to be on the safe side.

Cattitude, you are absolutely correct. Coaches cannot mention a player by name until the player has officially signed.
I will try my best to keep up with all of the activity tomorrow.

I take it that some of the coaches will be tweeting all day before the official show at 5:30 p.m. I think that Nathan and coach Thrash did last year.

Great day in the morning. Has anyone watched this kid's Hudl film? May be the most impressive film I've seen on a recruit. He is just plain explosive. Great reactions as a CB. Great eyes for holes as a RB. Great hands as a receiver. good football awareness. Blocks kicks, runs kickoffs back for TD's, runs punts back for TD's, great blocker from the RB position and or WO position. 4.40 speed with power. This kid excites me. Adonis Davis is who I'm talking about. I know that Bastrop is a lower division school but so is Fairfield where Gates and Lide came from. I noticed the Hudl film said 5 games, so I wonder if he was injured for some games and that's why he was under the radar. Then again, maybe I'm seeing something no one else sees. (Error in Bogeyman's vision and assessment of players). Is anyone else excited about this pick up?

Bogey, you are not wrong to be excited about him. He's a ball player. Looks like a natural CB, whereas the rest of his game doesn't look as natural. To be fair, though, his competition was BAAAAD!!!!! He probably looks better than he is because the opponents are so much worse than he is. Still, I see a lot of talent. The best attribute looks to be his aggression. He doesn't sit back and wait for things to happen. He looks like a future starter at CB to me. Also, it doesn't surprise me that he got overlooked. Small school diamonds-in-the-rough fall through every year.

He has the quickest short shuttle time in the CB class of 2016 according to ESPN. Brother plays at UT.

Speaking of local kids...anyone know anything about Ronnell Wilson, LB from Abilene High?

Great Point on not chasing Red Herring and the recruiting limitations. My comment was based upon a discussion with his dad who said he was not pursued much by ACU and again was not offered per that discussion. My point is more that had ACU been out front or even offered the kid the worst thing that happens is he goes to UT. The cost of recruiting is minimal for an Abilene kid compared to the potential payoff. With the family ties to ACU, we will never know, but perhaps he could have been swayed?

Speaking of local kids...anyone know anything about Ronnell Wilson, LB from Abilene High? Signing with Tarleton State at 11:30 today. Great Kid and Great Player. I think the issue on ACU not offering is top end speed at LB. Just my thoughts because otherwise there is no reason not to recruit him based on size, awareness and other factors.

I agree. We have a problem with local community support. Abilene fans just don't turn out for ACU games. I gotta think that if we signed a few more local kids, it would help fill our stands on Saturdays. I don't want to take anything away from the great job our coaches are doing though. They obviously know how to recruit. Just look at the class we are lining up today.
